I would say about 2 mouths ago i had Champion plugs that i changed out to Bosch Platinum+4 Spark Plugs not knowing to use NGKs.
The bosch plug gave me back power and had the car running smooth which Trini Boom said i would be changing those soon, well about 3 weeks into those i started getting a power drop again and misfires but its not as bad as it was before i changed them so now im about to try the NGK Iridium ix. Any1 have feedback on these?

I'd imagine that iridium would give a hella good spark but on another thread i read someone saying that iridium plugs on a stock car would do more harm than good, i have no idea how a good spark can be a bad thing, maybe someone can clear it up.

i dont see why a greater spark would hurt you either. gonna dig for some more info on tht..

cant find anything that says it would really harm your car. only thing im finding is how certain plugs foul in certain cars. id go for it.

iridiums arent necessary, platinums are all our cars require. they're good for 60,000 and are what the dealer recommended to me years ago for my 4th gen.

The way I understand it, platinum and iridium conduct less energy, thus weaker spark. However the electrodes wear less and deliver that weaker spark for something like 100,000 miles.

Run the copper or el-cheapo platinum NGK's and call it a day.

Trust the forum! Throw some NGK's in there and call it a day.

Anything else plug wise in a maxima besides NGK is junk.

Well can't say I didn't warn ya... but I was in your shoes at one time. As for these other posts, I have no problems with the Iridiums as they are in the 7th gen as stock plugs. I bought my second 4th gen for my moms and bought the same plugs..right now, I am having a sporadic misfire which I may end up changing out those mitsubishi's for hanshins..

Hey Trini, you said you have iridiums, is there a noticeable difference from plats or coppers? If not, then I don't see the worth in shelling out more for em.

I'm currently running the bosch but only cause I had to change them that day for an emissions test and the store was out of the ngks, I'd rather be running the ngk but the bosch have been fine so far. As far as coppers vs platinum it depends how often you want to change them, I would go with the coppers.

Notable difference...well I can't tell ya for sure because I haven't used the plats in years but they are great man. I know they are a bit steep...$45 for all 6 from AZ but don't get them if your spark plug tube seals are leaking..

NGK BKR5E-11v power are the way to go. $2 each. There is no point on spending the money on plats.

I use the Bosch 4 for 20k miles now, on a 97 no problems

NGK all the way, even my BMW uses NGK!

Nothing but issues with Bosch plugs from my experience.

Copper is a superior conductor. Who cares if you have to change them out every 20-30k? What is it, 20 minutes of effort? IMO, platinum plugs are just for lazy people who don't turn their own wrenches.

and honestly its not a bad practice to check on your plugs 20-30k anyways.

I have Iridium IX in my '99 and ever since I put them in I've had an annoying hesitation at low revs.

When I get around to it, I'll be getting some coppers back in there.

Nonsense. Why the hell would you need to check on laser platinum OEM plugs every 20 - 30 K. I checked on mine after 12.5 years and they were still good to go, but I decided to change them anyways at 108,000 km, ie. 67,000 miles.

Your spark plugs can tell you alot.

You can tell if your running lean rich ect ect.

It doesnt seem like nonsense to me since your plugs are very important to your engines health.

Its not that i dont like or trust plats. I just like to check my plugs every so often. I guess it was a habit that carried over from when i use to spray.

Yea im not checking plugs every 20-30k either. Thats why i got NGK plats. I had also got them on sale for $3 a pop.....

Yeah I only check plugs when valve cover seals are leaking..which I use OEM gaskets and have Iridiums plugs.
