Chrome Pillars

Just wondering what everyone thinks about those chrome pillars that have been applied to cars as of late? I've seen some mention of them in the 6-7th gen threads, but not so much in application to the 4th gens. I wouldn't want to apply something to my car that I would regret later when the trend passes.

It depends on the locale and the people you hang around, I can tell you right now the general maxima.org opinion is going to be no to chrome in general, but don't let such a small crowd control what you do with your ride.

Answer to your question? That would be an emphatic no to chrome pillars.

Unless you're into that stuff..... Then you should go to conn's on saturday nights lol.

I have chrome pillars

I did the body colored pillar "mod" and had one door with the pillars painted black, and then I messed up making it white and couldn't get it to match so then I said screw it and covered it with those Ebay chrome pillars.

My car is white so it kind of blends in but if you car is black or a dark color it will really stand out.

Here is a picture from a while back when it was actually still sunny... and warm.

It matches my door handles and grille, but I'm planning on getting some black vinyl and go back to the OEM look.

But once you put on those pillars with that 3M double sided tape, its NEVER coming off unless you have a day to spend peeling glue off. So I guess my car is going to be chromed for the rest of its life. Unless I find some insane motivation to remove them again.

Oh and the picture in my signature is what I'm aiming for, so I still have some sense of style in modding left

Around here it does seem like a trend, but not so much on Maximas. It more like on the ol big body American cars.

@Leo - yea, my car is white like yours, but not nearly as good looking. I'm thinking the chrome may make it look like a car that wants to look good, but failed by going the cheap route.

I have seen some shiny "piano black" pillar covers. Mine are kind of dull and faded so I thought maybe that could spruce it up without breaking the bank too much. The mechanical stuff is getting fixed, so its about time to move onto the cosmetic things.

I don't think it was ever a trend.

Don't do it, IMO Chrome makes a car look tacky. If it didn't come with it from factory, there was a reason for it...

I see a ton of crappy cars being dressed up with chrome accents.
If it is quality, you should not have to 'hide' it behind chrome.
Back in the day - "If you cannot afford to go fast, chrome it."

Shiny and obnoxious IMO.

These were the shiny black ones I was talking about. A little bit more sheen with no chrome. There are carbon fiber ones available too, but I don't think the would flow well with the rest of my car.

All these people saying it looks bad and not trendy makes me want to keep them even more.

Because whats the point in having something everyone else likes when you will just blend in with the rest of society.

Also like I said before it will be so much work removing all that glue residue I'm not even gonna bother. haha

But those "piano black" pillars look very nice! I wish Ebay had them (at least as cheap as the chrome pillars) a few years ago.

Depends on your theme. I had them, regretted them, ripped them off, and re-freshed the pillars with Matte black vinyl trim tape.

I looking to go with a black/white theme. That's pretty much my life them anyway. white car, black tint, chrome (or black?) pillars, white corners, and some brighter alloy wheels. Maybe like these?

http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/fin...6821&rc=TSEINT

I would get black, but the type I want are more expensive. The car doesn't need to be the flashiest on the block, just look a little better than it does now. I refuse to ride around in something that resembles my cousin's dented StarKist tuna can Integra with Ed Hardy interior.

Meh, I don't think I'll make a very good gansta. I think I'll go with the piano black ones. Might as well keep it classy.
