Injector loop fuel hose??

On my 96, several years ago I replaced the two hoses, the ones between the front and back injector loop on either end. I got fuel injector hose from Autozone I believe. The original hoses had a yellow stripe around them at the mid point.

I used band clamps on them. I have had trouble every since with vapor leaks (the hoses get wet but no dripping fuel) between the hoses and the metal pipe. Happens when the temperature drops, in the winter.

Googling the part numbers, they show up as 16441 MA and MB in the "1996 Nissan Maxima Fuel Strainer & Fuel Hose" illustration, i get two results, one cheap one expensive:

16441MA HOSE-FUEL Replaced by: MultiSupersession 1994.02-1996.07 VQ30DE L=110 S/#A6440-N7686 $39.33 *
16441MA HOSE-FUEL 16441-31U03 1996.07- VQ30DE $8.65 *
16441MB HOSE-FUEL Replaced by: MultiSupersession 1995.05-1996.07 VQ30DE $30.88 *
16441MB HOSE-FUEL 1996.07- VQ30DE $7.15 *

First question: the 1996.07 is the start of the production date for the cheaper one. Is that July of 1996 and how do I know when mine was built? (humor me! )

Second question: What changed?

Last question: is the hose different from the Autozone fuel injector hose that is generic???

I know that the hoses clamps changed in later years of production but i cant recall if the
hoses themselves changed at all.

I too replaced my hoses with the autozone cheap stuff but I haven't had a problem with any leaking vapors..

I got the hose free because I needed less then a foot of the stuff.

I found the date code (used the search function ).

November of 95. I looked at a friends 98 and I dont see any difference in the system with regard to the hose.
