Map lights with dome lights

Is there a way to rewire the map lights so that they come on along with the dome light?

map lights are wired into the same power source as the dome light, there is a loom that runs up your driver's side A pillar that powers your sunroof/map/dome lights etc. Map lights use a on/off switch where the dome light receives it's on/off input from the door pressure switches. Best thing to do would be using your volt meter, test each lead into your dome light to find which one gets a positive voltage when you open your door. Once you found your source wire, splice into this wire using solder and heatshrink since nobody wants a headliner catching on fire. Once you have your source wire splice run it to the map lights under the headliner and solder it to the positive terminals on the lights themselves, not before the switch. This way the map lights will come on and off when u open and close the door, but you will still retain use of the on/off buttons for when you need them. Hope this helps!

*edit* Thanks for the idea now I know what I'm going to do on a rainy day.

Huh? I don't think that will work because the dome light gets its power from a constant +12Vdc AND a switched ground (from either the switch or door pin switches).

edit:

The door pin switches activates the BCM (Body Control Module). So there is no direct wire between the pin switch(es) and the dome light.

I'm not sure what the map light is. I'm almost positive that the dome light has a constant ground and a switched +12Vdc source.

I guess that means he'd have to find the BCM, find the source wire that leaves the BCM to go to the dome light and tap into that.
