what kind of car battery to get?

I have a 97 SE 5-speed everything stock. I'm going to be getting a new battery and was wondering what recommendations everyone has.

Any specifications with the battery that I need to make sure I have for a 97 max? thanks

O'riely's (SuperStart), warranty vs. cost it's the best value.

Around $80 for a battery w/ a 72 mo. warranty.

Had one in the 93 that lasted 6 years. Have had one in the 98 for two and a half years so far. Still cranking...

If you are going to be adding any kind of system in the car go with a optima yellow top battery.

I've always had DieHard Gold's that always last long. I'd suggest one of those.

Deep cycle batteries ONLY should be used if you constantly run your battery dead. If you like to run your system until it shuts off and recharge it back to life then fine. Other than that there are NO advantages of a deep cycle battery. If I were to guess I'd say for 99% of people that buy one it's a horrible waste of money. You might as well run 100 octane gas in your car.

IIRC, Johnson Control makes wal mart's everstart batteries.
