It is taking the projectors or reflectors of vehicles that have already have been tested and are approved to use hid lights and putting them into the headlights of cars that aren't.

If you use the cheap drop-in hid bulbs into stock housings that are designed for halogen bulbs, you will blind the **** out of other drivers and may even reduce the light output of your vehicle in some cases.

Using projectors off of vehicles that are designed to use hids reduce the nasty glare, increase the usable light output and GREATLY reduce the risk of getting pulled over. If done correctly, a cop will not know that you have illegal lights as you aren't blinding drivers.

Stock drop-in

Retro

lol, gotta love teh new guys. its when you remove the original halogens and put in a projector/hid set up so you can have a much brighter more focused beam of light. like this.....

I have HID's for my headlights(6k), and just bought some for my fogs(3k). I gotta admit, the retrofit is bad*ss! It just seems like too much $$$ and so much to do to do myself. The light output is scattered and my fogs seem brighter than my headlights. It's like i have spotlights pointing to my left and right...is there a more cost efficient way of doing all this guys? Thnx in advance!

ill be honest, they are'nt all that expensive. i think with the shrouds, hids, bezel, and light it was like 300-350.00 plus the time to put them together. cheaper than a set of wheels.....

LOL

I love my bi-xenon retro. Call me an a-hole but if some behind me blinds me with POS drop-ins. I usually get behind them with my highs on. Now that is bright. I can see their eyes even through a tint LOL.

OMG YES! Me too! I usually sure to keep just the proper distance behind em where I see the light reflecting off their mirror onto their face! This also applies with people driving with high beams.

its funny that for a car that gets modified so much (4th gen maxima), projector lights are still not available on ebay, people have to make them.

...sooo are those bi-xenon? I'm regretting putting in MDX halogen projectors in my retro. I wish I went down the FX-R/Morimoto route to begin with. I think it's def worth it. I am not too happy with my current light output lol. maybe I shouldn't be putting all the blame on them. cheapo China made HID kits/bulbs aren't probably helping either...

my camera is broken for the time being but I'll post up a pic of the actual light output on the road so you guys can see the beam width and projection down a dark road...it's ehhhh lol

no, d2s hids, not bi-xenon's. 4500's, like off white bulbs. got the hid kit from ddm tuning. this is the kit...

Looking good. E46 bezels are my favorite for using on bixenon projectors. To the post about the mdx projectors you can convert them to use a d2s bulb, it may help the input instead of using the aftermarket hid bulb kit

sorry lol I meant to ask if the projectors themselves had hi-beam capability...you know with the hi/low solenoids and mechanical cutoff shield

Yup, bi-xenon projectors. RS6, which are just like E55s except with better chrome and a foreground limiter.

damnn. looks like gotta upgrade! enjoy them. people will give you some crazy looks. I love driving with them on during a cloudy day...they just look so nice when it's like that for some reason. fyi I'm running 6000k bulbs now. my original 4300k's burned out. I ordered replacement bulbs but they sent me 6000k. gotta tell ya, I 'm liking them a lot more than the 4300k's.
