Oxygen Sensor

Got an 09-01 the other day. Right front O2 heater. Called around for quotes and the guy at one store said "about 60 dollars". I called the next day and ordered one. He even had it delivered same day from the warehouse in Eugene. When I went to pick it up they tried to get me for $128.00 .
Now I understand that this is "reasonable" for a bosch part from a retailer, but its not what I was qouted.
The owner of the store told me he wished people knew what they wanted before he orders parts and that he was gonna have to eat the shipping. I looked at him and told him I knew what I wanted, the O2 sensor I was quoted $60.00 for. He laughed and told me wasn't going to find it any cheaper. That's when I told him I could get it online for $60.00 shipped, and walked out with my money still in my pocket. You can eat your shipping and choke on it.
Went to rockauto.com and picked up a Denso #234-3098 for $53.17 shipped Priority.
Just installed it after work and runs MUCH better. Real nice looking part. Direct fit (no splicing) and assembled in USA.

+1 on both stories. I got a knock sensor off ebay new oem for 45.00 bucks shipped.

Autozone wanted 140 for an aftermarket one, I just walked out the door.
I may need an o2 sensor in the near future and if I do im going right over
to rockauto.com an ordering me one. Ill have it in 4 days and if it saves me 40 or 50 bucks its worth it.

First, there are two "front" sensors, meaning before the catalytic converter. The motor has a left and right side viewed standing at the trans end towards the motor. Right is firewall side, and left is radiator side.
0901 is associated with Right front meaning right bank, before cat.
The connector for the sensor associated with the 0901 code (right front heated O2 Sensor) Is mounted to the top of the intake manifold, passenger rear corner. Its gray with 3 wires.

The sensor leads follow the power steering lines down to the rear exhaust down-pipe. I was able to remove the old sensor with an open-end wrench, but I think there's room enough to use a box end after cutting the leads off the old sensor. Use anti seize compound when installing the new sensor.

Here is an illustrated guide to O2 sensor locations for the max (and any car with the motor towards the passenger side).

You removed the o2 sensor without lifting up the car ?

Alright, so I disconnect that connector, then lift the car up and remove the sensor from the bottom?
Is the sensor bolted on?

Why the hell would someone buy an o2 sensor from a junk yard. I can't think of a more stupid part to purchase from there. At least you can see the wear on a clutch and brake pads.

If you are kidding, I apologize.

yea the point of replacing a o2 sensor is to have a faster responding and non-contaminated one. The junk yards ones have been sitting/oxidizing/etc and aren't going to be as responsive as a new one.

a Responsive o2 sensor is the key....in my theory. :P

Sensor screws into the rear down pipe like a spark plug. Believe the wrench size is 15/16".

Between your $20 O2 comment and your listed mods you sound like a ricer. I don't know you, and I'm not judgin. Just think you MIGHT need to learn more about cars, spend more on your engine, and less on tail lights.

I honestly dont know, but Im leary of crimped splices on a signal circuit like this. were talking a range of 0-1volt, any resistance is gonna throw your A/F mix off.

I've done it on all my cars. They aren't cheap radioshack crimps. I've always received some twist on crimps that have an aluminum conductor which is a better conductor than the wire used (4th most conductive metal). It also includes some water proof plugs and heat resistant case.

EDIT: Oh, I didn't click the link. I hope that they don't come with those craps. Here is a pic below.

No it doesnt come with a plug I would have to splice my old wire.
Would electrical tape be good enough for a little while ?

Yes you would have to splice your old connector and leads on. The butt connectors do look like the good ones with heat shrink tubing. I believe the leads are stainless wire, otherwise I would recommend solder and heat shrink tube.

I would recommend insulated butt connectors. I would also follow by by some electrical tape. Which is what I used to extend the rear o2 sensors is some custom setup. I guess you can use solder also.

Just got my O2 sensor today, didnt manage to remove the old sensor (cause i tried with an adjustable wrench, not enough space to move that around in there)

Gonna go get an o2 sensor socket from Autozone tomorrow

Both of the front o2 sensors are indeed interchangeable.
But i think the one after the cat is slightly different or atleast has a
different plug.

Are you sure they didn't order a knock sensor for $128? I was just quoted that for a knock sensor last week, but the right bank O2 sensor was only $30.

Left front o2 sensor would be near the bottom of the radiator coming out of the Ypipe. You gotta lift the car up just to see it though. Sorry I dont have a pic guys mabey someone else will chime in.

You can get a universal o2 sensor off ebay or rockauto for around 30 bucks hell I just did that right now.

Just got done changing the oxygen sensor

I bought the special socket from Autozone but that didnt work. For some reason the old sensor was shaped a little differently and the socket couldn't go all the way in to the bolt

Bought a 22mm wrench today and that worked perfectly.
Luckily mine wasn't seized in, came out without too much trouble

Clear your codes

Did you remember to clear your codes? You'll want to do that to turn that light off and reset your ECU to perform its best.

Yupp cleared the codes right after

I still have 1 code left, 03 02 - EGR tube clogged
That seems even more complicated from the guides around here, may just skip this one since i read it doesn't affect performance in any way

Thanks for update Defiance....

I bought one from Advanced Auto. Where is harness connected for left front O2, is it coming on the top? I want to just check if connection are not loose as recently I did lot cleaning replacing ( KS / ECTS / TB / Spark plugs / Coils ) so I want to make sure that before taking on hand replacing sensor itself.

Another question, After 30 -40 Mile of continuous driving my car start stalling at idle / stop while in drive, if I shift to Neutral (Auto ) it stays up. I changed ECTS and KS and as of I don't have any codes other than P0150, I am gonna fix this...but is this stalling is connected to O2 sensor only? or can be something else too..

Another question will O2 sensor cause engine lean, or lean engine has potential to crap O2

you don't have to clear the ECU for O2 code to clear. it will clear by itself in 3 drive cycles. it's about a bit over 100 miles.

its one of those connectors behind the rad cap. Looking at the pic it should be one of those connectors under the words V6 3000 and depending on year their should be 2 3 or 4 connectors there.

Oh yeah a bad o2 will make the car feel like its going to stall I shifted into N before that happened though.

I actually unplugged my right bannk 02 sensor and it ran BETTER
so yeah my o2 sensor was bad.
