The LED Light Picture Thread -Interior-

Post up your LED'd interior photos, descriptions what was used or brought would be appreciated too!!!

I'll start things off:

@ Night w/ my Blackberry

Just used 3mm red LEDs from radio shack with no resistor and I did not cut the little nipple under each switch.

GO!

I'm currently redoing it with either 4 or 2 LEDs in each socket. One 3mm LED just doesnt do the job.

Both pieces are nice.
For the driver side master window Aackshun if you can please describe the paint you used for your interior pieces..( Looks real clean ) What kind of prep you did? And whats the quality of the paint work. You know, for example how you see some people paint their door panels and such.. and paint is easy to chip off, possibly get on to your clothes etc.. ya know.
thanks guys keep it coming.

Sadly, I didn't paint it, car came w/ it painted.

But if you have problems with flaking or the paint coming off then your problem is the prep, not the paint.

You may want to try using a plastic primer after a good sanding and cleaning.

Lets see if I remember what I have where. I know I have ~15 in the cluster. One under each window switch. 12 in each map light. 20 in the dome light. 9 in the courtesy lights. Only thing that doesn't have LED's is the radio. All soldered in, nothing pre-made.

Schmellyfart...

Those are the same LEDs in your gauge cluster right?

The gauge cluster isn't as bright as I'd like, but your CC unit looks to be exactly what I want, not too bright, but enough to see the keys @ night, just perfect! I can't wait till my shipment of LEDs get in from HK, I have some more LED mods planned, hopefully they all work out for the better.

One moar tinggg (no H on perpous), you tried the clock coloring trick? Just red cellophane paper from your local party supply store! One layer turns it white, two turns it red (but too dim to see during the day w/ the lights off!)

Which gauge cluster? The red one has 3mm LEDs and athe blue one has 5mm LEDs.

I am very pleased with the way the CC turned out.

No I haven't tried it because I thought you could only do white. Do you think it would be visible in the daytime with the clock always bright mod?

The red one of course .

I have mine white and I cut the wire, don't really have problems seeing it (unless it's in direct sunlight), but when I tried to make it red, it was barely visible even w/ the illumination wire cut. Thankfully it turned out for the better, I like it white, gives some contrast, I don't want everything RED, RED, RED (Red, red wine makes ya feel so fine!!).

Only thing left to do in my interior LED wise is... DCC, Entry lighting, Dome Light, Map Light and Gauge Cluster!

Speaking of Gauge Clusters... I wish Ilyak would post some pics of his in here...

Then yes, I used the same LEDs in the CC as I did in the cluster.

Your wish has been granted sir. However, I will have to say that my interior is back to stock. I thought I was going to sell the car (again), but I can never f'in go through with it, so now I'm stuck with another stock interior (for the 2nd time). lol.

Here is some pics of what I had:
  • Switches, climate control, and buttons (hazard, defroster, light) done by BLACKonBLACK98
  • Speedometer done by MOHFPro911
  • LED Bulb for the Shifter Console (sent to me by BLACKonBLACK)

Pictures:

I also have white LED boards in the map, interior lights, and door lights. And the keyring is a blue LED.

1 3mm Led behind each small needle
2 3mm Led behind each large needle

3mm Led for turn signals. (sanded off the green and taped off the arrows from behind)

EDIT: wow just looked at the mileage in this photo. I have just over 229,000 now.....

Climate control and defrost/hazard buttons.

3mm blue Led behind each button to provide evenly lit buttons
3mm red Led behind each indicator behind buttons
3mm blue Led behind "Cold"
3mm red Led behind "Hot"
4 blue 3mm Led's behind fan speed
3mm blue Led in Rear Def with 3mm red in circle indicator light
3mm red Led in Hazard button (blue in this shot but has been changed)
JVC headunit is gone have the Pioneer fh-p8000bt double din now. All blue
Layer of red cellophane on clock (makes it white)
Layer of blue over that (makes it a cyan color that matches the reverse indiglo gages)

3mm blue leds in all window switches
Led's in door handle pockets are gone and i30 chrome door handles are in now
Neons and other rice once on the car all gone thank god.

Also have 5mm blue Led in keyring
3mm Led in dimmer control
3mm Led in Security Light
Two 3mm Led in Cruise Control switch
Two 5mm Led in autotragic shifter

8 bright white superflux leds in Dome light

I got all of the LED's on ebay. Most i got some time ago from a user named cwithk. They all came with resistors that allow the Leds to be used with 12 volt applications. Each Led has a resistor in all cases except where an led already exsisted (the indicator lights, temp slider, window switches)

Since the climate control is pretty crammed I wired two sets of 3 Leds in series behind the six buttons. I used an online calculator to determine the proper resistor and picked those up from radio shack.

Ha thanks. I've had mine apart too many times to count. Originally I had an all red interior using bulbs and stain glass paint on everything. I ditched that climate control for another that I simply replaced the bulbs with LED's. The light output wasn't even and I decided to fit an LED in for each button. The first try ended up with me frying the climate control. Now on my 3rd climate control I finally got it right.

Lexur 1 Led board in map light 97

Anyone try using the Lexur 1 9 led in the map light? I already had one in the rear which works. Finally adding one to the map light and it wont work, I tested it in the door and it works fine. I have 12v at the harness so I know there's no blown fuse. Im beginning to think there is not enough power for the 9 Led to work in the map light. Or the bulb adapter that is used to get power to the Led board is bad. It really hard to test it since its so small.

Did you try plugging the wedge adapter both ways? Unlike an OEM bulb those pre made LED's will only work plugged in one direction.

Yup, the wedge adapter is what I used to test it in the door and it worked. I have to use the 1895 adapter for the map light. Either direction I plug it in there doesn't work. It has to be that the adapter is bad. What I'm thinking of doing is cutting the plug off the LED and bring the hot and ground right to where the wires connect to the fixture. If that works then I know the adapter is the problem.

Good lucks.. most that have done this have done it several times to get it right.
Make sure you get your Leds bright enough so you are happy the light output. This is why its important that people post the MCD'S of the Leds they are using. I have tried up to 15,000 and wasn't happy. FYI

I drilled a 5mm LED into the cup behind the door handle. I wired them to a switch in my center console to turn them on and off. The other option would be to tap into the interior illumination and they would come on with all of your other interior dash lights.

I removed the lights in there when I installed my black leather door panels, felt like it was maybe too much rice for a basically stock car.

most of the led's in this thread aren't plug and play bulbs, they are soldered LED's

of them for the gauge cluster.

Cool white is 3.94 a piece while red is only 2.99, im thinking about getting Natural white next.

To the people with questions about install, if you can take the old bulbs out you can put the new ones in ^^ Its just that easy.
They are direct plug and play no resistors needed, or extra wiring.
You can even use the dimmer switch to dim them if they are to bright, which is what
I did when I first bought them but then I got used to them and turned them up to full blast.

Now I want to LED the whole interior out
