ABS Sensor diff's btw 94/95 and 97-99?????

if some one here knows the answer or can shed some light....

Did a thorough search and turned up no details my specific question.

I have a 95 Cali Spec GLE. I need the front left wheel speed ABS sensor replaced, and the part is NOT cheap...and not easily found other than the stealership.

Ebay has some BUT they all read 97-99 or 96-99 for $45-60/each. Dealer is $120-250/each. I wanted to know if they were interchangeable, maybe the sensors are the same, but the harness is diff...maybe I oculd soldier on the old harness to the new sensor...

Basically if anyone has two Max's or access to both parts to compare them, that would be key.

Thanks in advance.

wish I had seen this earlier, I was at the junkyard and pulled a part from a 98, I have 95 regular spec with ABS not sure if the one in the yard had ABS or not but could have looked, if I can think of a reason to go back tomorrow I will take a look.

I'm sure that if the parts are different they are still interchangeable. It is called a generation for the fact that though parts were modified backwards compatibility is usually maintained.

Case in point being the part I got today, EVAP purge volume control valve. Obviously Nissan changed it at some point between my 95 and that 98 but it still fits the same mounts, still has the same hose locations, still has the same plug and after about 50miles on the road my CEL has not come back on so I assume it's doing the same job.

I don't know of any proof they are the same, but I know of only one part from the later 4th gens that is not directly backwards swappable to the early 4th gen and that is the instrument cluster.

I tried searching I couldn't find anything about it. Anyway I looked on ebay and I think the guy might have run out of characters for the title of the auction, "Nissan Maxima ABS Sensor 1996 1997 1998 1999 96 97 98" Anyway, 94 would have nothing to do with it because that was 3rd gen max, 95 was the start of 4th gen, maybe these suppliers have gotten their part years a little messed up, not like they know these intimate details about every car part they sell. 4th gen is 95-99, 3rd was ?-1994 so i don't suspect the part would be the same on a 94 as 95.

I did do several searches and nothing on my 95 specific question. I also checked Courtesy Nissan parts and they specifically show a different part for late 94 build dates to 95, and a separate part for 96-99. Even called them to ask my question, all they could confirm was that they are separate parts.

I suspect the plug shape/type is the difference and not the sensor portion. That's the confirmation I'm looking for.

Can anyone post a pic of the front sensor plug for a 96-99? I'll post my 95 one.
