Won't shift?

So sometimes while i'm driving the rpm's will just keep climbing all the way to 3k before it finally shifts into (i think) second. It just sounds like it's revving and stay at that rpm but if I let off the gas it will usually shift. Is that just the trans messing up or could it be something else?

Depends. Are you still getting power through the transmission before it shifts into the next gear or does it feel like its just revving and doing nothing?

Im assuming we talkin about an auto here....

It sounds like to me the tranny slippin. It either be cuz of mechanical or electrical issues. Slippin trannies is usually jusa a worn tranny. Hopefully its jus a loose a faulty tranny solenoid or something. Try checking the FSM or Haynes.

When the last time u did tranny flush? Haynes says to replace every 30k.

It's been a while probably 30-40k so a little overdue. I just had to get a rear o2 sensor replaced could that cause the same issue?
