Advice on exhaust

I've been tryina descide on get a custom exhaust or get a greddy cat-back, but i dont really like how the sp2 looks, i just want one that'll look n sound good, and also enhance my performance, the guy that was gunna do the custom exhaust said he'll do it from my resonator back for $150 but my resonator is busted..smh, so idk if i should get rid of the resonator n just have the custom exhaust. N some1 correct me if I'm wrong but does a 5th gen cat-back fit our 4th gens? cuz i like the greddy evo2 exhaust but i dont think they make the evo2 for 4th gens, so i was just hoping to get some suggestions on a good cat-back exhaust that looks n sounds good n gives good performance, n if guys have any pics of ur exhaust feel free to post i'll really help out!

5th gen catbacks do not fit the 4th gen. Get an eBay catback for $160 shipped. I'll be doing that soon since my b-pipe is rusting to ****.

My exhaust is practically falling off lol.. I was thinking of biting the bullet and buying one of the higher end exhausts. But the ebay ones are more appealing price wise lol. My question is how do the ebay ones sound? None of the videos I see really depict the sound well and tell the ebay brand at the same time. I'm looking for something a bit more classy than your average honda civic tone lol, esp considering as when i put the catback on I may also do a Y at the same time. Keep in mind I will replace the stock cat with an aftermarket/hi flow one.

Post up a vid on YouTube then post the link here. I've been trying to find a clip of that exhaust on a 4th gen Max forever.

well, i bought an ebay one that was like the cheapest i could find 2-3 years ago. it had fitment issues as one fo the flanges was a few degrees off. in order for it to fit, i had to pull and twist the exhaust. Bad idea, it created a slit in the b-pipe from me twisting it. Got it welded and fixed. thought it was the end of it, nope, the hangers on the muffler fell off, bought a replacement walker for $15 off rockauto when they had the $50 rebate. Now, the b-pipe exhaust hanger falls off taking a chunk of the pip off. I was looking aroudn for jsut the b-pipe and found one at autohausaz.com for $125. Its made by bosal, so i figured its a decent company so i decided to give it a shot, so i hope its good. Just watch out for fitment issues on the ebay ones.

Post a pic and a video if you have the capability. I'm interested to see what it looks/sounds like. I'm not too souped on the idea of a big fart can hanging off the back unless I can hide it decently and just have a massive tip filling the hole in the factory rear bumper xD

I'm picky

Well I think it looks great. I hate the fat ones from hks or megan racing. Well it is kind of one the rumbly sound because I have custom headers but if you don't have them then it will be very quiet like a g35. Really sounds nice!! Hehe.

the sound on that catback i can tolerate. if you go thru the options to select a 98 like i have, its only a rear section it says and changes the muffler to an n1 style, i don't want that. I want something more like the Apexi WS/WS2 or GReddy SP2/SE/EVO just 1/2 the cost xP

Custom Exhaust

If your looking for something cheap and something that sounds great try going for a Thrush Glasspack to replace that resonator. Then after that go with a straight back exhaust, and no muffler. Here is a link to my cars exhaust. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...eoid=103236822 Forgive the music but other than that my exhaust has gotten alot of compliments.

Thrush Glasspack $20
Silverlite Dual tip and other piping $35

I'm also interested to see a vid of a greddy spectrum elite cat. Been searching for an exhaust that would produce the same sound as a g35 coupe/fx35. Love the low to mid loudness it has.

That's not bad but it's not my style. I'm looking for more refinement as my overall plans for the car would be described best as that. A nice tuned note and appearance. Glasspacks and tips remind me of '72 Ford Broncos with Yosemite Sam mudflaps

That gReddy SE almost looks like the SP2 with a burnt tip. It most likely sounds similar. If anyone is looking for that exhaust I know Nopi has them in stock for a decent price.

I just picked up the custom maxima exhaust for my 98, put it on last night and had no issues (aside from the sseized bolts) fitment was fine and came with every piece I needed. I'll post a vid shortly.

Greddy is overrated and too expensive. Jus get a nice bullet muffler and call it a day. Jus get one with a removable silencer.

If you really want a catback jus try the SS catbacks from ebay. They prolly sound the same as the Greddy for a fraction of the price.

my pace setter with a total of 28 inches of resonators sounds like a greddy. "like" a greddy, it still sounds unlike the real thing but i got pretty close. lusty growl till about 4k rpm when it rices out a tad.
also have a budget ypipe and no cat.

Video

`At the very end of the video is a parked rev up of the engine so you can clearly hear the exhaust there.

If u want noise and performance, Greddy is a sure bet. But 500-600 bucks for SS catback IS expensive.

Unless u got the hook-up of course haha
