I have a Great Idea.. But who thinks it is worth it?

Ok. so i been thinking lately that this actually may be a Great Idea..

Since i have a Gs300 and I do like the fact that when you Put the key in the Door of the Lex.. and unlock the door, and hold it there, the windows go down. and when in the opposite direction the windows go up.

So my idea was to create a 'Relay' system for the Maxima that will Allow that feature for our cars. But it will definitely have to work with the door lock somehow. And i have come up with a few plans. but i am looking at the GS wiring to see how it works. But other than that i think it may be a good project to start on.

So what you guys think about this?

If it actually works, i might go and get the idea patented, or get it Pending.. and sell.. but whichever comes first..

but is there anything i am going to have to watch for in our electrical system?

because i know that when you roll up all 4 windows at the same time and hold it there for a while.. the Relay (or i guess it is) cuts off all power to the windows for like a second or so, then operation resumes.. Thats all i am worried about at the moment, because the rear windows close first before the front windows.. But anyway.. let me know while i still sit here trying to make a diagram of this. Thanks

but then, i dunno if it would be a waste of time.

Sounds like a good idea. After a few hours of reading about electrical your questions will be answered and you need that to go forward with the design anyway. But I like the idea. This is something that would appeal to people and it would probably be cheap so it would sell. Good luck.

well the windows already go down with the keyless remote, so you could probably look at that wiring

i think it'd be better if you could figure out a way to make the windows go back up w/ the lock button on the remote.

+1

I think this would be more useful to most of us.

Or, just wire up a way so that the window switches work even when the car is off.

kinda like how our cars unlock all doors if you turn the key twice.

There is obviously some sort of switch to sense a locking of the driver's door because of the reasons HandsonMaxima noted. There is also a switch to sense the unlocking of the drivers door (unlock drivers door then turn key to unlock again within five seconds unlocks all doors - like with the keyless remote, hit unlock twice in five seconds to unlock everything.) So, you could hook up a 555 timer to in monostable mode to delay the action of closing a relay to put the windows up when you held the key in the lock position. It would be sweet to hack the communications system (IVMS) between those individual control modules, then you could have total control over the body electronics.

But the 555 circut is not hard to build and i still think you might be able to buy everything to need at radio shack. Forest M. Mims taught me everything I know about 555 timers. Look for his book. Relax, its only 32 pages.

ThreePointO's suggestion would be better, albeit much more complicated to implement. You would need control of the IVMS bus.

EDIT - Oops, I read handson's post wrong, but the car can still sense both conditions with already, so just use those switches.

you can probably use a window relay module for an alarm to do it.

Check this place out. I know a few people who've put this stuff on their cars with great results. http://www.kptechnologies.com/products.php

I dont thin its hard at all. A relay would work nice. It jus needs a timed input. splice the door locks onto in the input side. Splice the window regulator wires as the outputs. Should work neat!

Im not gonna do, its too cold in Mass to have all four window roll down at once lol
