I'll try to keep this short and simple. My starter started having issues a few years ago, so I regreased it using the motorvate guide here:
http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/516. A few months later, it started acting up again and actually left me stranded. I decided just to buy a new one.
I had a huge problem with a differential oil seal leaking after a tranny rebuild which destroyed my clutchmasters stage 3 clutch and basically turned it into paste. I replaced that and rebuilt the tranny again, but that paste got inside my starter.
Now my newish starter is acting up (from the crap that got inside it) so I decided it was time to clean it out. I removed the starter, cleaned it up, regreased it, and put it back in. Now it won't even turn over. Motorvate seems to be down (who knows how long it's been like this) and so I can't remember exactly where I should grease up. For those of you who have done this, where did you grease? Or more importantly, where should I not grease.
At first, I greased almost every moving part (including the magnets and the brushes at the end) but after it didn't turn over, I wiped these parts clean. It's still not turning over though, so I'm looking for advice. Well, it didn't end up being that short of a post, but any suggestions are still appreciated!
