1995 Maxima: Alarm Goes Off When Starting Car

Posting this for a friend who owns a 95 and doesn't go on this forum.

He has a non-Nissan key but a copy. He does not have a remote for the car either. When he inserts the key into the ignition, the alarm goes off and the car won't start. It used to (as recently as last week).

I'm a 99, so I have NATS. I've never heard of such a weird security issue on anything other than 99's.

What do you guys think? I can't see or get to the car.

No he cannot. The car will not start from what he's said.

Have him try this:

THEFT WARNING SYSTEM DEACTIVATION
To deactivate the theft warning system, a door or the trunk lid must be unlocked with the key.

3. Canceling the set theft warning system
When the following (a) or (b) operation is performed, the armed phase is canceled.
(a) Unlock the doors with the key or multi-remote controller.
(b) Open the trunk lid with the key. When the trunk lid is closed after opening the trunk lid with the key, the
system returns to the armed phase.

Basically, have him lock the car and unlock it with a key.

Or just place a jumper wire from pin 3 to 4 of the theft warning relay.

Hmm okay. I'll have him try that and see if the car starts.
