^ well, some may live and die by raxles, but i'm gonna say go ahead and head over to autozone, pepboys, etc. and grab an axle there. i'd imagine it would be around ~$60 and i believe it has a lifetime warranty. just can't justify the cost for raxles and the fact that you have to wait on shipping vs just going to the store and exchanging a defective axle.

Thats because you speak from lack of experience.
Autozone axles do have a lifetime warranty, but who cares unless you dont mind doing the labor of always swapping them out. Plus many have had issues with them causing vibrations and etc inlcuding myself.
Im running Raxles now and couldnt be happier. They are holding the power Im putting down just fine

This the problem that so many 4g owners are so cheap! These are important parts. Axles from Marty are only like $130 and for sure are good.
It is better than buying cheap axles that vibrate and take them out and need new tranny fluid. BTW, use MT90 not some cheap Autozone crap.
I replaced mine about 4 months ago. Local store axles have a lot of bad stories with them falling apart at the joint while installing. Yeah they have a lifetime warranty but the labor involved to replace them is somewhat extensive. I wouldn't want to have to do it twice.
I got mine from a local store that sells OE parts and reman parts. I took the chance on reman since the reman company was local and have fared well so far.
The toughest part of the job was getting the driver's side to "seat in" the tranny. Ended up using a 3lb sledge and a 2X4 to knock the end of the axle so the ring would go into the compressed area of the transmission.
Note - If your new axles come with the ABS gear and you do not have ABS, the gear is just a ring and can easily be removed with a hammer and small chisel. You will have to remove the race from your old axle and put it on the new one so use some finesse with it.

really? 100% chance they are good? i think not my friend. there is always a chance that you MIGHT have to send it back. how long will it take to ship back? and how much will it cost you? plus downtime. sure if you guys want to pay for "peace of mind" go ahead i'm not knockin on ya.
tranny fluid is a different story. mt90 all the way!

lack of experience? sure, i haven't used a raxles before, but why would i if i could get a product that is cheaper and does the job?.. my mechanic installed some autozone axles on my max. so far no problems. and of course you'll hear from those who have had problems, they'll be the first to come in and complain about it. will those who are perfectly happy with their axles chime in? probably not because they have no reason to.
I went to a local shop for mine. They rebuild/install driveshafts, and driveshafts only. The axles I got were remanufactored from oem parts. Great quality for only $60 a piece with warranty.
I can understand not going with autozone or napa parts, but whats wrong with getting a rebuilt oem unit from a reputable shop that specializes in driveshafts?

I've used nothing but advance auto lifetime axles in my car. If I'm paying $130, I'd rather get two axles for that price than one. If one goes bad (which neither has, yet), I'll just go get another free one. It's not like replacing either axle is particularly difficult...

Yeah, but he has all kinds of front end issues including bad alignment, and steering rack. He isnt as slammed as some, but he is stilll lower then most.
He even suspects that it is due to his height...

Even with my Raxles, at my current ride height I get a little clicking when turning on the passenger side where the blower is at. how many people buy raxles vs autozone, napa, ect axles?... i tend to think people will go for the cheaper alternative.
you can spend $260? or more + shipping (unless it's free) for Raxles (both sides of course) or spend half that, maybe even less, for autozone axles that will perform just as well. some of us want to save our money for other things and find we don't NEED "beefier" axles

True, nothing wrong with trying to save money.
But the OP claimed he "broke" an axle so we suggested Raxle axles because they are beefier. Obviously "you" dont need beefier axles but the OP may. I know for a fact he is wanting to heavily mod this car, as well as his other one so that decision should be up to him.

if you're puttin down a lot of power or your ride is slammed, then yeah your car's gonna need that tougher axle. my cheapo autozone axle is doin fine!

I just had both frt. cv-axles replaced. I never heard any noise coming from the axles, but both boots were torn wide open and you could see where grease had been thrown out. Now I have a 30 labor warranty and a lifetime axle warranty. What should I look for in the first 30 days to indicate a possible problem other than noise of course? The car seems to be pulling to driver's side. Could the axle replacement cause an alignment issue? Thanks in advance for the help.
i put raxles in about 6 months ago, passenger side is already messed up. marty offers lifetime warranty so all i need to do is pull it off and send it in.. but then im without a car for a solid week...

The mechanic jiggled the tire back and forth and I could feel a slight thump which he said was the tie rod going bad. Could the axle replacement cause a problem with the tie rod? Is this the proper way to diagnose tie rod damage? Is this a simple fix for a novice DIY'er?

Outer is not too bad. Inner is more hard. Both need alignment after you done.

Beefier, I've heard that before. Is it a thicker diameter than OEM? Heavier metal? How is it "beefier?"
Since Raxles remans someone else's axles, I'm curious which part they make beefier.
BTW, the replaced axle won't cause a front end alignment issue, but all the stuff you moved around to replace it might not get put back exactly the same, and that is what causes alignment issues.

Yes, that's normal, because the tranny housing is in the center of the car, but a little bit more closer to the driver side. So the driver side will have a easy access to the axle than the passenger side will have. That's why the passenger side Is longer so, It can reach the tranny housing.
