96 maxima no start after storage...fine before storage

i tried searching for this and would normally read through hours of threads but im going to look at it tomorrow and am in a bit of a time crunch

seller says it was stored since june/july of this year (in a garage) they pulled it out 2 weeks ago

plugged the battery in and the car cranked and cranked till he blew out the starter got it towed the shop replaced the battery and starter still a no start

seller says the mechanic sprayed starter fluid, it started and it seemed like it ran on 3 cylinders so in his opinion the chain jumped a tooth and is throwing off the timing so it needs a timing chain job

seller says it ran GREAT before they stored it

my question is what do u think would cause a no start after storing for only 3-4 months in the summer time

any thoughts on what i can at least check?

i think ill check for codes, the vacuum line on the FPR for fuel, maybe try grounding the block/starter?

Try some fresh fuel in the tank. The chain didn't jump a tooth.

I agree with you and the poster above, the chain did not jump a tooth. I think its fuel also, considering it ran when the guy sprayed some ether in it, albeit poorly. You should be able to pump the old fuel out of the tank with the fuel pump, and then add some new.

the funny thing is that they dont know that, bring up the extensive effort it is to change a timing chain.
argue the price down.
