^^ the difference between the two is almost unnoticeable. Plus PR is the only true CAI for the maxima. Dont waste your money. I have a "short ram" merely for the mid-pipe so I have a place to easily tap for the nitrous nozzle. Stock intake works just as well otherwise.

Stock intake works better more often than not, but doesn't give the "growl" people are looking for. The only reason I have one is to gain some working space in the engine bay

PROOF!!??
At the end of the day a pipe and a filter is a pipe and a filter. Maybe the stock airbox keeps the air cooler bc its JDM plastic which insulates better.

ive had both types ive got the PR CAI on my max now and its pretty good..the short ram intake is good if you dont live anywhere where it get super hot..but honestly id save your money and just go with a K&N drop in filter and stay stock bc a intake doesnt yield that much increase in power it just makes your car use up more gas

No, it makes you stay on the pedal longer to hear that VQ growl, doesn't make your car use more gas.

CAI = gain low end power, lose high end power (loudest sound)
Short Ram = gain high end power, lose low end power (lower, deeper growl sound)
Stock = steady equal power from low to high, but no gains or loss anywhere (no sound)
You can't just say "STOCK IS THE BEST". Some people will give up some high end power for some low end. Some people will give up some low end power for some high end. And some people just want sound.
Conclusion, all intakes are EQUIVALENT. All different intake setups have equal balance, it just depends on where you want most of your power.
