Installing hid's in R34 headlights housing

I've got a stock setup with R34 headlight housings. I'm looking into installing HID's, but I want to keep the R34 housing. Is the ONLY way to do this with a rerofit from like a TL projector? I'm not overly concerned with beam pattern or usability (the car is not my daily driver), but I'm in it more for the luxury look of it.

So what's the cheapest, easiest way I can get some HID's into my R34 housings?

TL's are big for that housing. you can get a HID kit but it would be much better with the retro fit

I don't know how to do a retrofit, and they are very expensive to buy. I see all these "plug-and-play" HID kits available for like $200. This will do the trick? It won't like melt the cheap plastic that the R34 light housing is made of?

Well how much are you looking to spend to have usable light? Yea you can get a hid pnp kit but if its not going to benefit you then why do it? Retro's can be pricey but they are well worth the money. If you are tight on money i seriously wouldnt do hids in the r34's . I have done them and the output is no better than stock.

Just because they come with it does not mean that it is ok. Please search and look for output pics of r34's with hids.

please dont put hids in these headlights, it will reflect and blind everyone around you, just last night I wanted to beat this honda driver behind me, his lights were blinding, and I kept looking up because I thought a cop was behind me they were so blue

I think you misunderstood my post. If you read his original post he does not care what the output will be. I do not agree if you look at my first post, I just answered his question can he have HID with those headlights without a retro. I know the out put will be worst than before. I also told him to search

You can get HID projectors for less than $100
OEM D2S bulbs will run you about $50
Ballast should run you about $50

IMO, its incredibly stupid to put HIDs in ANY reflector housing. They just weren't made for it. They dont work well in them, extremly bright light way up in a drivers eyes, just not a good combo.

Really, you could do a pretty cheap FX BIXENON kit from theretrofitsource.com($280, comes withe projector, hid ballast, bulbs, wire harness, everything you need) and then just buy a set of r34s like you want. You would not have to use the bixenon function of the projector and could just use a stock bulb for you highs. So you are looking at 350-400 for a good set of projectors, not bad IMO. AND, you dont bloody blind people! Isn't it wonderful!? I think so.

Im looking at spending a quite bit more, but mines a daily so i need all the pretty lights i can get....right?
