exhaust kit -> stock muffler ?

So yea, my exhaust is pretty rusted out and hanging about 5 inches from the ground ( the hangers on the resonator and cat are long gone). The only good part on it is the muffler and ide like to replace the rest. ( possibly including y pipe). I was wondering if any exhaust kit would be able to bolt up to the muffler i already have. I'm considering getting one of the cheap stainless steel exhaust kits people are always listing on ebay for less than $200, but i defanitly would rather keep the muffler i have now rather than the ricer ones they have, and if its not gonna bolt up then its not worth it.

if nebody has any other suggestions please let me kno. I dont have a ton of money and ide like to replace as much as i can for the least amount.

thanks

You could always go to an exhaust shop and let them fab one up for you.

would that be alot of $ tho. i was thinking about maybe buying a cat and having them bend a b pipe that would bolt right to that. I don't really care if its loud, it cant be any louder than it is now with all the holes and missing pieces.

Assuming they're built like factory pieces, then everything should bolt right up.

That's also assuming you've got a bolt-on replacement rear section.

IME, aftermarket never fits like OEM. Maybe close, but never just like it.

when my exhaust got ripped out it cost me 362$ to get a custom one fab'd for me from a shop, but that includes resonator and a new cat.
as for bolting right up. i dont know, this was before i got into serious modding so i didnt do it myself.

Check out exhaust shops for their prices on either OEM replacement parts (Autozone/Advance/O'Reillys/etc can also get exhaust pieces), or for custom fab. FWIW I had a 2.5" catback made up a while back for ~$100, including welding on a muffler I brought in.

i was looking online and came across a few options.
This one which is a brand ive never heard of but affordable..
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalog/parts/partsProduct.jsp?itemIdentifier=606436_0_3145_&sku Description=Maremont+/+Exhaust+Pipe&brandName=Maremont&displayName=Exhau st+Pipe&categoryNValue=&sortType=&store=5033&isSea rchByPartNumber=&fromWhere=&fromString=&itemId=pro d61067&navValue=16100856&filterByKeyWord=&productI d=606436&appQuestionText=&searchText=&categoryDisp layName=Exhaust&parentId=cat30069&questions=[]

And this one which is a brand of heard of (Walker) but is a bit more expensive..
http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Exhaust-Resonator-Walker_18381987-P_689_R|GRPEXHAAMS_915500087___

Is it worth the extra $120 to go with the walker?

I've been looking at a Greddy SP2 exhaust and they come with a 95-96 and a 97-99 ... there's about a $100 difference in the price, there's a fit difference?

Shed some light on this, please.

I believe there's an extra piece for the 97-99. idk exactly what i just remember coming across the same thing when i was first looking to re do my exhaust. I think i might be a piece that goes between the resonator and cat and has an o2 bung.

Maremont is probably all steel and Walker is probably alumanized steel at best. Both are just temporary until you get more cash, really.

i payed 200+tax for my 2.5" custom (crush bent ) aluminized steel catback from a muffler shop. i'm sure it'd be substantially less for you since you only need cat to muffler.
