spare tire

Did all max's come with space-saver spares? Just got my car a couple months ago (96 GLE) and it's got a full-size (with brand-new looking, matching, oe rim) in the well.

i30s came with mini spares. Is yours attached to the trunk with a big screw?

Good for you man. Usually most cars come with space saver "donut" tire which sucks. It's not advised to drive with it on the highway. You can buy a space saver from the junk yard to get rid of extra weight in your full size tire. This way if you get a flat you can get home and install a good tire with a matching rim.

I would rather keep the full size spare. If you were to get a flat, you can change it and resume at highway speeds just fine.

Mine came with spare "donut" tires. You are lucky man, yours came with full size spare tire.

It is not very hard to get an OEM rim from another car and put a tire on it, and put it in the trunk. I thought of doing that as well. I do not believe that the car comes with full size spare.

Maybe it's because it's got the cold weather package (Canadian car). Might have something to do with the vlsd. Cold weather package included vlsd, didn't it?

I went from NH to NJ with my donut on. Didn't have any issues on the highway, even at speeds up to 80 mph on a few passes. Car drove perfectly fine, just didn't look so nice, talk about wheel well gap.

I got rid of my doughnut, can't stand them. I have a full sized rim and tire to match the rest of my tires. That way if you get a flat, you swap it out and go on your way. When you repair the flat, it becomes the spare.
