well... i will admit that the I cluster looks great. however, this does nothing to prove your claim that the entire dash is a direct swap.

edit: oops, there's 2 pages to this thread. who knew?

cluster swap

Made in china, I understand that you have to do an ECU swap to get the 2004 I35 cluster to work in your 98. So said that we could use an I30 cluster without swaping the ECU? From what year? I have a 97 auto SE and of you know from another thread I'm looking to get the gear display in my Cluster. So my options are since some say require the same amount of work

1 get the NZ cluster from the Cefiro with gear display and make my own circuit to get it to light which has already been done.

2 get a cluster that has the display already in there from a 2000 2001 maxy (does it have the gear display? ) or an I35 cluster. I'm not looking to swap the ECU so I guess i35 option is out, so which cluster that has the gear display in it is most compatible with the 4th gen cluster? Also which cluster as far as fitment and communicating temp, fuel etc with stock 4th gen wiring.?
