95 Max PowerSteering fluid leak?

Just bought the car. The PS rack arms' boots are ripped in 2. Im getting PS leak just under the area of the PS pump, im guessing.

Im hoping it's a line leaking. I noticed the PS reserve was a little low when I bought the car, didn't think much of it.

Without seeing the car, one person thinks it's the rack.
Another thinks it might just be a leaking line.

I think I might take it to the nissan dealership to have them inspect it.

Anyone had experience with a ps fluid leak?

btw, no noises from the pump or rack.

Mine leaks a little too . To be honest I havnt bothered with it yet , my boots on my rack are also torn, but it doesnt leak.
I would suggest cleaning it up and running it for a bit and then seeing where it is leaking from.
If you take it to the dealer they will probably tell you you need a new pump ,rack, tie-rod ends, ball joints ,lower control arms, struts, and a new power antenna .

Actually, I do need a new antenna

But the leak is a slow slow drip on the rt wheel assembly. I might go out today and take a good picture of it and post.

Be careful the next time you walk out there, the P/S fluid is so toxic it will eat a 7 or 8 ft deep hole in your driveway that you may find your Max has actually fallen into.

Sorry, could not resist...

Im a little late on this update, but finally went ahead and got the PS rack replaced.

New rack, new tie rod ends, feels stiffer and more true.

Now for the ball joints in a couple weeks.
