yes I've searched and from what I found, it seems to be the drain hose for the sunroof.
my questions is, how to remove the A-pillar properly to get access to the hoses so I can see if they are clogged or disconnected?
will I have to remove my headliner as well?
This thread was NOT about what I thought it was going to be about
But I thought the A-pillar just popped off like the b-pillar does?

Hey fellas mine is doing the same thing just not as bad as yours. It depends on how much it rains I guess. I didn't know it when I bought the car. I also had the plastic A pillars and swapped to the nice upholstered ones with the tweeter from a bose sutup and that is when I noticed it. Let me know how this works out. The hoses go down the roof line on each side right?
I had that issue a while ago on the passanger side. It turned out to be a hanful of dirt and debris in the lower body compartment that blocked the drain hole underneath the sunroof drain hose. If I remember correctly, I had to remove the front splash guard to get access to that area.
After carefull inspection I found the water was leaking in along the top windshield seal. Do you have any rust along the top next to the windshield? I put a bead of black RTV along the roof line windsield seal and that solved the problem. Af far as I can tell your not suposed to get water in the area where those sunroof drain tubes are. If you have bad sunroof seals water will get in there then go down those drain tubes. I soaked the top of my car with the garden hose and not a drop of water was near those drain tubes.
Thanks for all the input guys, I will definately check that out..
so far I pulled out the carpet , dried out the floor and going to go for a car wash to see where the water is coming in from..
will keep you guys posted..
one thing for sure, wow, cabin noise increased so much withouth the carpetting

So do I need to remove the inner fenderwell? Also where do the hoses exit the car at? Just so I know where to look. Thanks in advance.
Well, I''ve removed the carpet, done water test and it turns out the water leaks in from off the windshield ( so when raining) and when it slides off the glass to the fender drain, most of it gets drained out to the floor, but some of the water infiltrates..
so at least I know it's water that slides off the windshield..
I had the same problem on my 96 maxima from Montreal, I never fixed it and ended up having my floor completly rotted out.... that and the eastern Canada winters were the demise of my old maxima I just bought a 98 on the west coast and there is not a spec of rust! ANYWHERE!!
Good luck with your leak, I would try and have it fixed ASAP before your car turns to a rust bucket like my old one!
got the same problem here in montreal canada i take the carpet out its was 1 inch deep of wather i take out the fender the wather its coming front under the windshield where is the drain plug i take some picture gonna post dem tomorow we have to fix that asap cuz the floor is starting to be rusty and by the way i not leaking from the sunroff this is driving me crazy i luv the car so much but to know ist a boat piss me off
problem is, it has nothing to do with the window..
when the water slides off the windshield, the water gets channeled into the fender drain holes..
The problem is once the water pours into the fender drain hole, 2/3's of the water will leak out from under the car, but 1/3 of it will find it's way into the cabin...
I really want to fix this cause I like my max, it still has plenty of life left and I really don't want to have to get rid of her to buy a new car..
so water runs off the windsheild, onto the cowl and in the the channel where the wiper arms are..
that channel forms an arc so water flows to either side of the car..
currently, the water flowing to the passenger side to exit from the fender drain is leaking into the car.. anyone know how to fix this? I am unable to actually see where the water is coming in from but I know for a fact it's in the wiper drain channel..
it was actually the fender drain channel that had rusted! wo0T!
leak has been fixed.. no more pool inside the car ( it was bad)..
time to put the carpet back in and have a little bit of sound insulation.. hahaahha
hi i try everything but i never think about the fender drain channel can you tell me where it is and how you fix that and also did you check the passenger side cuz mine start to do it the isolator foam its a little bit wet ya will never know only by touching the carpet thanx
I have the same problem. I inherited a 1995 Max. SE with 80,000 miles from a friend of mine. Pass side floor had about 2 inches of water in it... It would be great if you could post some pictures of the area where it leaked ....Can the wiper drain channel be removed, its plastic and has a hole under each wiper arm. Once this is done I will see why It's running on only 5 cylinders.
thanks
HW
O.k.. these are not my pics nor does it show the passenger side, but it's the same..
The water flows down the windshield and into the wiper channel... the wiper channels the water into the fender channel ( in the frame of the car) which then channels the water out from the under side of the car.. throughout the years and moisture, the channel will rust/ rot due to water sits there until it's drained..
The following picture shows where to access that leak/ rusted/ cracked channel
Notice, the owner of this maxima had to cut open the access bigger ( when you take off your fender , you will understand)
once the opening is cut bigger ( I cut mine diferently by preserving the bevelled surface to preserve the frame structure) you will be able to see what rusted/ cracked surface I was refering to.
Now in these pics, the owner used a piece of aluminum and tar and silicone to cover/ patch the hole..
I used plastic metal to fill in the hold/ crack and then used a rubber guard spray to coat the whole surface to make sure the water doesn't get onthe plastic metal ( it's like putty , but hardens)
again these are not my pics, but this is what I used to guide me to fix my leak.
anything happens to your maxima while performing/ following this repair is to your own risk.
