Heated Steering Wheel
Has anyone put a 2002-2003 Maxima/I35 Heated Steering Wheel into a 4th gen? Or perhaps an I35 one?
Would the 4th gen airbag still work/fit?
I'd love to do this. I plan on installing heated mirrors and finding some heated seats (my leather isn't heated) for the car. Would love to complete the setup with a heated wheel.
It would be even better if it was possible to use the buttons for the radio and cruise, however I think the clock spring is just different enough to require a lot of wiring to use those.

Vasiliy did, at one point. Said he didn't use the airbag, though.
here are 2 pics of my momo steering wheel that i have on my max. its so much better then the oem unit. i know you guys are going to start to say its pointless and not safe because there is no airbag but i dont care. safety the last thing on my mind. i love it. its smaller then the OEM wheel. actuall size is 13.8. all you need to install it is the wheel itself and the hub. i dont regret buying it. i used to have a 2k2 heated steering wheel from a 2k2 max but i didnt have a airbag for it. the heated feature worked also. so far i know that the steering wheels from 5th and 5.5 gen and altima fit on the max. i dont see why the 350z or g35 wheel wont fit but it will be pricey and hard to find.
well i currently have a 2k sterring wheel on my car with the airbag. everything fits withouta problem. i have a 2k2 sterring hweel in black leather that is heated for sale also witrh the buttom that turns it on. i had this steering wheel on my max but i removed it cause i dont have a airbag for it. if anybody wants it, let me know.
on the airbag though, it is so simple to remove it. when i did mine, i disconected the battery, removed the 2 torx screws that hold the airbag (1 on each side), and disconet the airbag. to remove the torx screws, you have to but the socket with the torx screws. they can be found at any auto store. i got them for $10 at kragen.

i did the heated seat upgrade but i dont even know i f we can put heated side view mirrors in there if we want to upgrade maybe i will start a new thread abt it, but if u get ahead of it all the best man keep us updated

Heated mirrors should be extremely simple.
Just splice the wire that turns on the heat function to the defroster button in the center console so when you defrost the rear window, the mirrors defrost as well. The rest of it should be plug'n'play as it is the same part (same harness as non-heat mirror).

you can disconnect the cruise control and use those wires in the clockspring for the heater in the steering wheel. That way you won't have to swap the steering columns. The rest is simple, run power to switch, to relay, timer and to the heater via the cruise lines. Not that hard as long as you're familiar with messing around with electronics. G/L for those who decide to do this.

That's the problem.
I want to have heat, cruise, and if possible audio controls. But since I won't be able to have cruise at least, it's not worth it. I love my cruise control feature on long trips.
I'll just get heated seats and mirrors and call it a day. Wheel doesn't get THAT cold I guess.

Hooking up the cruise control is also not a problem. You could always make a remote switch somewhere on the panel to turn it on and off and the rest of the features with it.
The issue for people is the airbag. For some it is a safety issue and for others it is required for inspection.
Best option is to get an aftermarket steering wheel. The stock maxima wheel belongs on a bus not a car IMO....

I use the grip heaters on my motorcycle and works great, I was wearing thin gloves and was comfortable at about 15degrees with no wind protection. Takes about a minute or two to get hot. This would be a cheap/ghetto/easy way to accomplish the heated steering wheel without loosing the airbag.

FWIW My father has this on his max. The steering wheel has not held up well. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the fact it is heated. Anyone thinking about doing this mod should research this. Not worth it to have a crappy looking wheel IMO.

i don't ****!ng know lol probably because he didn't wanna start a new thread and thought this thread was the most relevant one he could find about heated steering wheels. stop being a thread monitor it's really no big deal ur just annoying to me that's why i'm saying something lol
