I remember that video!

They compared it to a 5 series?!? I think they got that part wrong, or were they serious?

The engine weighs 100 lbs less than before.... before what?

I think it is referring to the previous generation.

95 Maxima Side Airbag

They've mentioned the side airbag came standard with every 95 Maxima in the video (4:06-4:08). Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks for uploading this awesome video.

I believe they said "dual airbags" meaning one for driver and passenger. Side airbags weren't introduced in the Maxima until '98 when it was available as an option.

Odd that they used a GLE in this video since it mainly focused on performance.

They didn't offer side airbags until 98-99's, according to wikipedia. I think what they were trying to say was they have both driver 'side' and passenger 'side' airbags. Not actual side airbags.

Haha, starting under $20,000! Not anymore!

To be honest though, I'd prefer an Acura Legend GS 6-speed sedan to the Maxima... (runs and hides)

I'd consider one now if not for a few reasons:

1) Rare to find in good shape
2) Very rare to find with a six-speed
3) Leather seats usually very worn
4) Reliability issues; it's a rather old car now

For luxury, yes, but for performance the SE is tops.

100lbs less than the weight of the previous DOHC Maxima (VE30DE).

was his a 540i though? if it was 535i or a 525i they are both rated to have slower 0-60 than the maxima

540i since they quoted it having a V8...unless it's a 530i which had a 3.0L V8 in that generation. Hmm...

And I agree, the SE looks much better. Those "honeycomb" wheels on the GLE are a mess!

Maxima w/o fogs, stock or aftermarket, doesn't look right. Even worse are the covers in the 95-96. At least the 4.5gen had cool slats there.
