+1 ^ that would help me out so much! : The 3 relay wiring is very confusing.

I thought i had this figured out w/just 2 relays and a diode. Nope...

Are 9004 bulb maximas ground shared and positive switched? Or the other way around

According to the database thread, it's common ground and switched power.

IF you follow this exactly, it will work perfectly. Our cars are deffinately positive switched b/c someone tried wiring our cars w/a negative switched harness and it didn't work.

If you really want to understand it... then read this following quote while looking at the diagram.

"when the lows are on, both R1 and R2 are closed and power the ballasts. When we switch to high beam, there is a short moment when BOTH low and high beam wire will get powered (this is when we flash). In fact it is only when we completely switch to high beam that the power to lows is lost but when we switch to high beam we always first go through this little moment where both low and high wire are powered. Therefore providing R2 was closed before by the low beam wire, the little moment where both low and high are on allows to keep R2 closed and allows the high beam wire to keep it closed after the low is powered off"

Ok guys, I THINK i figured it out:



Short Version: Replace a diode with a relay and connect the battery to the low trigger wire.

Long Version:
-Parking light switch must be turned on for the lows to come on. This is done to prevent your lows coming on when you just want to flash someone during the daytime (i.e. warning people to slow down because there is a police car around the next bend)
-When the highs come on, it hits a relay, which takes power from the battery and gives it to the low beams' trigger wire. That power is passed through the parking switch relay to the low beam relay, which closes to power the HID ballasts via the battery.
-If you "flash" someone, the power will still hit the "high beam" relay and pass it to the low beam trigger wire, but because the parking light relay is open, the circuit will not be complete, and therefore the lows will not go on.

Can someone please check my work and see if I'm missing something?

You should use the side light as a trigger to turn the low beams on. Use a relay and connect the power to the battery terminal. You will be able to flash your high beams with out the low beams going off.

I'm trying to use a capacitor to keep my low's from flickering... what size do i need?

I read i needed 2200uF or 4700uF for a fourth of a second to a half of a second.

BUT THE CAPS ARE HUGE. They're thick as big as a roll of nickels.

Does anyone know if this is overkill? Should i use the 2.2uF caps that are 1/4" thick?

This is what I came up with. I like the R34 headlights, but of course he beam pattern sucks. So I decided to do quad HID reflectors:

- R34 chrome headlights
- TSX projectors for low beans
- FX bi-xenon projectors for quad low beams + high beams
- Clear lenses for the FX projectors (cut line/color mod)
- 4 E46 replica shrouds (for 2.5" lenses)
- 2 slim balasts D2S HID kits (4300K for best visibility)
- 2 9004 to HID wiring harnesses

I bought 2 sets of headlights (TSX and FX) off ebay. The FX clear lenses, E46 replica shrouds and wiring harnesses came from Retrofit Source. They cut me a really good deal. The HID kits were from the group deal from Liuspeed.

To get the projectors to fit, we put the TSX projectors on the inside and the FX bi-xenon projectors on the outside. They are getting installed this weekend. I do have to cut about 1" into the frame next to the radiator to get clearance for the inner projectors to fit.
