gas leak/smell problem

gas leak/smell problem
I have this thing and it is annoying. When I bought the car (a year ago) there was gas smell in the cabin every time I used the heater (it was the winter time). I finally found where the gas leak was and replaced the hose. It was one of the short hoses that connects a couple of the pipes. A few months later I started having the gas smell again and I found that it was leaking from the same place again. I tightened the clamp and it was fixed. About a week ago the smell came back. Why does this keep coming back?
Another question I have is about a noise that wasn't there before. It sounds like a loud fuel pump. Its kinda like a very 'thin' whistle sound. Could it be from the vacuum lines that connect to the carbon canister? All of this started when I swapped my ECU to a 95 one (the car is a 96).
Thanks for your comments and help!

Don't think the problem is related to the ECU being replaced..
But your fuel pump shouldn't have to do with the leak/smell.
On the other hand, sounds like your fuel pump may be shot/dying. I had to replace one TWICE on a Maxima before.

No, its while its running and it's constantly there at any speed and RPM.
The same hose was leaking so I loosened it and moved the clamp a bit and tightened it again. The smell is gone for now. Why does it do that though?

I tried to listen carefully where the sound is coming from and its some where from the back for sure. It's the pump or some of the evap/vacuum lines that take the vapor back to the canister and tank. Is there a way to check if the pump is going bad?

I am still having the stupid leak guys! I need help!
I moved the clamp last week and tightened it again and this week its leaking again. What should I do? The hose is a year old.
And the sound is starting to annoy when the music is not on in the car.

Make sure you have fuel injection rated hoses. Parts store guys may have given you cheap coolant/power steering hoses that can't handle FI pressure or break down when they come in contact with fuel. Also consider getting some good FI hose clamps like the ones here: http://www.autobarn.net/iddifuincl.html

I thought about getting a smaller diameter hose too.
what should I look for when buying a good fuel line hose?
thanks guys!

I'd use fuel injection hose that meets SAE 30R9 standards, similar to this one: http://www.midwayautosupply.com/pm-3...mp-pi-502.aspx
I used these thermoid hoses on my old Z when I replaced all the FI hoses and never had a leak.
