I used niteshades and did not have to use a clear coat. But others have. I didn't clear coat because I wanted to be able to take it off if I want. Clear coat will make it more permanent.
It is shiny, but not clear coat shiny.

How do you take the tint off ??

I would say put clear coat on it, it looks better, but if you want to remove the tint or you get in trouble and have to remove the tint, then you might want to go without clear coat.

i would hope it was spelled that way intentionally.

and as dave said, i dont think clear coats is necessary for a somewhat shiny look. and yes, goof off is AWESOME! when you tint make sure you spray it on evenly, or else it WILL show at night, especially reverse lights.

Has anyone ever been forced to remove tint from their taillights?

No because I left my brake lights red. But I'm sure if I tinted the whole taillight, I'd be pulled over for it in a matter of days.

Other people may be able to help out with this answer.
