Battery Help

Ok so the story goes like this. I was replacing my knock sensor the other day because it was faulty and i need to pass emissions so i can get my car registered here in the great state of Nevada. any i got it all in just fine car started up great, and then i turned it off to finish cleaning up my tools. I get back into the car and it won't start at all not even enough electricty to open the electric locks. So i jump started it i started up no problem i make it home and turn it off same thing happens. So my questions is it the battery or maybe the alternator or something else. The battery is only about a year old so i dont think it should be going bad already should it?

get a voltage test on it

and it is close to 4 am so im a wee bit tired so correct me if im wrong...but if your alt was bad youd be hearing some funny noises from your engine bay... and your car would most likely choke in the middle of the road...

go to advanced auto, autozone, napa, w/e you guys have out there and have them test your battery....ive had ones that lasted 6 months and some that last 7 years

Yeah, test the voltage. If the engine is off it will be 12V, if it is on - then 15V

Battery voltage with engine off should be about 12.6 volts.

But as others wrote above, check the contacts. It's unlikely your battery went from strong to dead in a few minutes without producing some serious heat.
