OK to put jackstands under front hooks?

Can I support the car by putting stands under the two front "tie down" hooks?

considering they are round and jackstands are not meant to grasp that type of shape, i wouldnt.
sure they could support the weight of the car, especially being dispursed like that, but why not just use the standard jacking points?

Put them under the lower control arms where they bolt into the chassis if you dont use the provided points.

I put the floor jack at the lift point, the control arm is what i was working on. Jackstands just seem to be out of the way there.

Thanks guys.

Jack it up from the center crossmember and support it under the fram rails or the lower control arm. If you're working on the control arms, jack it from the side under the fram rails and you'll have to do one side at a time. If you have side skirts you can jack under the control arm, just turn the wheel to one side or the other and a jack will fit.

I jack from the center crossmember below the center of the engine bay. And than I put the stands at the approved points. This way I only have to jack once. If your jack doesn't go high enough you need a bigger jack. I have 2 big red' jacks one is lightweight alum and low profile, and one beast of a 3ton, both get the car high enough.

Putting the stands on the hooks is real risky. If the car shifts for any reason the car is likely to slide off the stands and crush you. Having a car drop into your lap isn't as fun as it sounds.

jack + 2x4 = higher lift

Use a 4x4 if a 2x4 won't cut it (as long as it will clear).
