Well my rear timing chain cover started leaking to the point were it drips even when the engine is turned off. I really dont want to pull the engine out cuz then i have deal with the obx 2 piece headers with the rear manifold one pipe with the y pipe, and plus i would have to do the radiator support cuz when i put the cross member back last time i saw the bolts twist in the radiator support becuz that nasty rust,so i know as soon as i take them out they wont go back in......ok well i have been told with my milage 198k+ that stop leak would just give me poor oiling and eventually cause an internal problem, so they told me to try brake fluid or half a qt of ATF...i dont want pull the motor till i get a 5sp trans to do the conversion and jus do it all but that wont be till next spring or summer.i put an autometer oil pressure gauge jus to be on the safe side n see when it drops low. WIL THE ATF OR BRAKE FLUID BE ANY BETTER THAN THE STOP LEAK????
You will have to remove the timing chain cover, clean everything and use a good silicon to seal the cover and re-torque all those bolts, but you may get away by just re-tightening all the bolts. My 2 cents.
This has nothing to do with advanced performance, moved to the 4th gen forum. Also, no, adding ATF or brake fluid to your oil will do nothing to fix your leak, if anything, it would make it worse.
