ever lift the car to fix axle problems??
ok so I know allot of you think that a drop lower than 1.5" ruins axles.
so my question is has anyone with a problem killing axles(pass side) lifted the car (back to stock or close)in order to stop it re occurring and if so did it work?
also has anyone with a clicking axle lifted the car and noticed the click gone away without replacing the axle??

I've read all the bs arguments and am still looking for one single person to say that they were blowin axles because of the drop but when they raised it they stopped breaking. That's what I'm looking for someone who has EXPERIENCE with a drop below 1.5".
I really don't feel like shellin out money for a new axle if it's just going to blow again. If someone has had sucess with a milder drop than I will just get htecs and than replace the axle. Thanks for condesending newbie it helps alot.

yeah you know the drop kills them.what you got now coilovers or springs? replace the axle and use h techs and the axles will last a long time. i do have a drop below 1.5 inches and my axles have been good for a while.

I have been at several heights, from stock to dropped nearly 3" . Not one issue. I have the stock 98 pass axle (120k) and an 01 AE LSD driver axle (80k?). Granted I dont drive as much as most and dont slam the car very long either. I am also currently on Stechs. I do not like these springs, so its temporary, but I do believe they are too low. FYI, Stechs rest on the bump stops with a stock strut. You really cant go any lower with out modifying something. I also swap in the stock suspension during the winter, Nov.-Apr. That must give the axles a break.
My cousin on the other hand has gone through countless axles, wheel bearings, and tires. He as a very aggressive driver. He drives many many more miles than I. He also leaves the springs on all year. He was on cut Intrax which are as low as Stechs for sure. He bought new, not reman, axles at advanced auto, which have a lifetime warranty. Free fix in part, it just takes a few hours of time. He switched to Progress and I dont think he has replaced an axle since.
It all boils down to how hard the axles are being worked. The CV joints can only rotate properly till a certain angle. Obviously running them at less of an angle will last longer.

also my bump stops are trimmed to almost non existence. it was like that when I got the car.
I do live in NY and drive it atleast 35 miles a day.
anyone know how much nissan wants for a new one?

I have been as low as 2.5 inches for 9 years while turbo'd and N/A, and have not had to replace them. Are you making sure the axle nut is tight? That can lead to unwanted subharmonic vibration that can lead to axle and bearing failure.

I think Im going to try and get an advance auto new lifetime one. its 60$ and I gotta go on a 5hr trip monday so i almost dont have a choice (my yota is way to small for me on long trips).
could old suspension bushings kill the axles that fast? they arent cracked or anything but Im sure they are old.

so what could you see killing that raxle prematurely
And it's less than6 months old and it deteriorated far faster than the last cheap one.
And on a side note the driver side was replaced at the same time with a napa cheap reman(30$) and it's still good.

I saw someone say that bad trannie berings will kill and axle.
So how would I diagnose if this were the problem. (changed to amsoil gl4 gear oil)
Is there a sound associated like bad wheel berings in the tranny or something?

Got 60K on my Max and has change my passenger side 3 times and recently replaced the driver's side. I'm riding on JIC coilovers on 19" wheels and I like to push my ride especially coming out of the corners. I've been told that these crazy driving habit of mine is causing the failure of my axles...

ok so last week or the week before that I got new rear tires, and I had the wheels ballanced and rotated. Few days after that the axle started to sound really bad. Yesterday I actually put the car up to check everything out, and when I went to remove the pass side front wheel my impact didnt even make a single click on 3 out of 5 lugs. Only one lug was fully tight. Thank god I wasn't killed by some douche at firestone that would have been lame. So obviously this was the prob. I'm kickin myself for not checkin sooner. I just figured guys doing tires all day would know how to mount a wheel. There were loose lugs on all the wheels, the worst being in the front. Wtf WTF WTF.
Now that everything is tight everything is happy, I only get very mild click at full turn now.
This makes me want to get a tire mounter for my garage.
