Radio turn off by itself!

Hi,

lately my stock radio for my 97 maxima is acting weird.

it will turns off by itself, after 5min of playing time, and after i turn it on again, it will work for another 3min then the screen will display AUX, and have not been able to bring it back to work after that,

any ideas what is going on?

any advice will be greatly appreciated

thank you

Check connections on the back. There is a chance that some loose ground wire is touching the aux input lead on the back board. Would be an easy fix then.

hey ,
went home last night and took it apart, doesn't seem like any wires are crossing. and also what does the aux input lead looks like?

is there any other things that can cause this?

my radio for the longest time in my 96 would just cut off and i couldn't turn it back on or anything but the back lights were still on. My problem was that the antena wire was coming unhooked. Make sure that is conected right... that is my advice!

There is a solder point on the back PCB called AUX-ON. When people do an aux input mod for their bose HUs they ground that point to turn on the aux feature.

It's a good point about the antena wire. I think ground comes from that.
I had my unit turned off too and it also was the antena connector. But mine went completelly black.

hi, last night i was somehow able to get the unit to work, but then this morning same thing happened again, i was in cd mode then all of sudden it switch to AUX and i cant seem to switch back at all,

another thing is that, my unit is a non-bose radio and i did not add the AUX option,

last night i replug everything so i know everything is plug-in, and i also check all ground wires. there is no problem with it.

another thing is that the radio is refurbished.

ummm no i was not the one refurbished the unit, when i got the car the unit is already refurbished, so im guessing the previous owner did.

i did however already bought one used from another org member(97maximaman) , but then i have not hear from him since i payed him, which was last thursday.

ya its the non-bose unit, haha it been almost 3 weeks now,

something i just noticed, if i removed the fuse for the radio, right in the engine bay, then put the the fuse back, then the radio will work again,

it will work for like 15 to 20 mins then it will go back to AUX
