I had to go through a rigmarole getting my plugs at Autozone. Of course I decided to go on the day when their dumbest employee happened to be working.

I was looking for good plugs but didn't want to break the bank (obviously), so I decided on Autolite double plats (I know.....).

The man came back with coppers. I looked at the box, "Are you sure these are it?" (being in a decent mood, I didn't want to be an asshole...) "Yeah, that's them." They even had a different part number. I took one out of the box, and sure enough the numbers matched up and it even had a copper tip. "But it says copper on the box, I wanted platinums." Without skipping a beat the man replied, "Yeah, that's what they're made of."

After a bit more goading he finally went back to check again, and actually came back with platinums (not the doubles I wanted, but I was tired of it).

To add insult to injury, he even asked if I needed anything else like wires, cap, or rotor...

So long story short, I'm a cheapass with Autolite Platinums. And I'm curious to know what Autozone's qualifications for hiring are.

NGK coppers.

Way I look at it is the plats cost ~$10 a piece and last 60K. I'll just buy the coppers at $2 a piece and change them every 30K. Spend only $24 over the course of 60K miles instead of $60. Stronger spark, and I come out ahead money wise.
