I went to the shop to fix the viration problem over 70 mph. They lift it up, and then I heard some grinding noise from the left rear wheel while the wheel were spining. I knew that, but I thought it is rubbing brake pads. When I checked the other wheels, they do not. What I knew is that when the brake pads are just replaced, they could make the rubbing noise for a while. After that, it should be gone. The noise is only and still on the rear wheel so I guess it could be the bearing problem. Is it possible? I asked the mechaninc, but he didn't listen to me.

If it is, how to replace the rear wheel bearing? I searched about the wheel bearing in here, but they were about the front wheel bearing.

Pretty sure most of the braking is done through the front, the back is mostly for e-brake, so it might take a little longer for them to "settle in". Not too sure just trying to throw my 2 cents out there. Have you got the tires balanced? Maybe a rim is bent. Alignment cannot be adjusted on the back.

most braking is done with the front brakes but the rears also participate in the braking process.

how to replace the rear wheel bearings? fairly simple.

jack up the rear
put it on a stand
remove wheel
removing brake caliper, bracket and hardware
remove rotor
take off centre car
remove centre nut
bearings and hub come as one piece and should come right off. may have to knock it outwards to loosen it up.

before you go buying the parts, jack up the car, take off the wheel and remove the caliper. then spin and listen for noise. sounds like a lot but it really isnt too much work.


When buying the parts from nissan dont forget to buy the cap also. they changed the rear hub so the old one wont fit (not that you should be reusing it anyhow).

To check to see if your wheel bearing is bad you need to jack up the car and hold the wheel at 12 oclock and 6 oclock and try to move the wheel back and forth. If there is ANY play, your wheel bearing is bad.

yeah the metal thing in the middle. and bad bearings wont necessarly give play on the rear. that method is meant for the front wheels.

I took the wheel, rotor, and caliper off and then turned the hub bearing assembly but I couldn't listen to anything. After that, I tighted the wheel and rotor on and then spined again without caliper. There weren't noise.
Once everythings is back, it made noise again. I took a video. At the video you can listen the noise from the brake pad. How can I show the video to you guys?

take off the caliper, spin the wheel and listen for noise. the front plays because the axle up front is free moving. not the case in the rear. when you jack up the rear, take off the wheel and take off the caliper (like you are changing the rear pad) it should ideally be slient when you spin it.

That's exactly what I did. When the wheel, rotor, and caliper were taken off, there wasn't any noise. I took a video but I can't upload at Youtube. It always shows me "failed" when I tried to upload.

May not have been a bearing problem then. if you hear it when you drive and it gets louder and you go faster, it is most likely the bearings jsut beginning to go bad. Without hearing it myself, I cant tell you for sure though. If you put everything back on and hear noise, then you know it is something that you put back on. stuck caliper etc.

U may not hear the noise with everyting off and the car jacked up because there is no "load" on it. When everything is back together there is "load" on it.
