RPM SIGNAL for msd switch. HELP NEEDED!

after sending my #8969 msd switch in for a repair, i just got it back, installed it and got the same results again even though it checked out fine for them. rpm display would show for about 5 minutes, then read to zero and stay that way.

i first had it connected to the ECU rpm signal. Then behind the cluster, tapped into the TAM screw. now msd suggests tapping it into the IGNITION COIL TRIGGER wire.

Where can i find this?

and has anyone else been experiencing this kinda of issue? where do you have yours hooked up?

Mine is hooked up with my safcII right to the ecu rpm signal. I have had no problems with mine at all.

oh so your using a summit, not msd?
well i dunno why i'm having this issue. i don't even know how msd found mine to be alright. and i thought tapping two diff applications on 1 signal wire was not recommended due to possible interference but hey if it works for you then i guess its alright.

i really don't think wiring it another way is gonna help but worth a try.
so i guess you don't know where the ignition coil trigger wire is?

Wow I completely missed this thread.

I am guessing that the trigger wire is the IGN signal out. I will take a look at the FSM later and see if I can find something for you.
