BIG Issue after clutch install
Hey guys so i decided today that it was a good time to replace my clutch. well everything went smooth as normal as i've done clutch jobs numerous times. Well i replaced my ACT 6 puck Sprung with an ACT 6 puck solid race disk (UNsprung). well now it has issues getting in and out of gears and the clutch goes soft every few blocks i drive. so far what ive done was:
- Bleed the clutch
- adjusted the pedal
- adjusted the linkage
Now all i replaced was the clutch disc since the pressure plate is actually under 10k miles old. i'm starting to hate this car a lot haha. thanks guys

yeah i checked where all the lines are the the seal in the slave cylinder. its weird, when i shut off the car the clutch pedal dies but if i give it partial to mid throttle up the rpm's, the pedal will stiffen up a bit and the shifting becomes slightly smoother.

yeah ive done my clutch a few timea already but this is the first time i put a solid race disc in. my gears were always somewhat notchy but now it may or may not get into gear. im thinking could it be my shift linkage itself bc when it does go in gear it drives fine.

Just playing devil advocate, doing a couple clutch jobs doesn't mean you can't mess up the job. I'm still thinking it's either your install or the hydraulics. With the pedal going soft, I'm more incline to say hydraulics.

You'll need help to do this ....
check the slave and make sure it's pushing the fork all the way when the clutch is depressed. have someone sit in the car and work the clutch, you look under the hood. does it shift ok otherwise? (car not running) a solid disk shouldn't really matter, but maybe it's not matching the PP well and causing a problem. if your slave is ok and working well .... I hate to say it, but I'd pull the trany and look at the clutch again. did you tourqe everything right? you sure?? you said the "clutch goes soft every few blocks" .... what do you mean, the feel of the peddal? my guess is a bad clutch or inproper install. hope you get it worked out .... keep us posted

ok so basically i understand what you guys are saying but basically now i talked to the place i bought the clutch and said that ACT is known for labeling clutches wrong. so most likely i have the wrong clutch disc. i bled the clutch so no more issue with it going soft. also the pairing of the clutch/pressure plate should be fine since it is the Heavy duty that they use in both kit. ( sprung and unsprung).
oh and btw i havent done just a "couple" clutch jobs. ive done a crap load lol just a couple on my personal maxima. just in case i cant get this thing to work, a 3.5 swapped S/C Maxima may be up for sale LOL

IT may have something to do with ur freeplay adjustment or height. belive or not that what is was on mine. My pedal would be extremly soft and annoying when I first drive it would be like a sponge. Then towards the end of the drive it would be nice and firm. Now it could of been bubbles finding there way out of the MS and going into that buffer tube area but I doubt it. Just try to adjust the pedal height and freeplay. And make sure ur height is all the way up with that cruze control switch.

is it possible that that fork is bent? i had it happen to me on a 1st gen dsm with the same symptoms. but then again if your loosing pressure i would suspect the slave or master cylinder or a leak somewhere
