different kind of o2 sensor question
okay well im prolly gonna get crap for this but i did try the search button (maybe i wasnt searching the right keywords)..also i need answers soon i need a part shipped out by today...but anyways here we go..
i got a 1996 maxima and i need to replace the rear sensor (downstream)....well i looked at my sensor and its a 3wire...i looked on autozone.com and they recomend a 3 wire....some guy on the org is selling a 4 wire one and he says it should be fine...then i searched the part number of the 4wire one in autozone it says its compatible with the 1996...im totally confused now...question is can i install the 4wire one?

Replace it with whatever is already there. That way you won't have to (potentially) do the job twice.
The 4-wire connectors have different pinouts and use a different style connector (IIRC). Use a different style and it likely won't plug up, even if it does it may not be the correct pinout for your application.
