need advice on tail lights

alright here is a pic of my car that I photo shopped with 2 different styles of tail lights.

The Lights on the left are CF and have a paint able plate for them so I can make them the color of my car.... I already have the paint on its way.... on the right it is a basic Red/white tail light. I am not sure which way I want to go yet on the left with it painted it will look pretty ****ing cool and very custom.... on the right I will be dealing with a more modest and classier look. I am trying to make a show car that has some *****... so knowing that I would like everyones opinions.

you can ask but all in all you have the final say. the CF give the skyline look (which in M.O. is beautiful when done right). the right side kinda reminds me of the back of a subaru. It just depends on how you see your car, and just work from there. good luck though.....keep the forum posted on what you plan on doin

thanks a lot for your opinion. I agree with you on what you said.... I just worry that when I do the paint job on the insert it wont come out right... but then again if I do get it right I think it will look great. I just wished you could go somewhere put the parts on the car and see first hand before buying.

The one on the left would definitely be more unique with it being painted the same color as your car. I personally think either one would look good, but if you are going for a show car, I would say the cf tails. Like deadmax said though, it's your car, not ours, so do what you think will look best.

when you do get the paint I would test it on a a similar template to make sure that after the paint is dried up it matches the body paint. I have seen alot of ppl (with different cars) try to do the same thing as what your doing but the paint usually came out with slight different shades then the body color itself. even with show cars that alone can make you lose points. but like i said before keep the forum posted! and let see the pics after everything is good and ready.

it's nice to see 4th gen's at car shows, kickin everyone else's butts

to match the front you need some dark smoked tails for the rear

Like someone said, this is your opinion, not ours. They actually both look good. If you go left, be prepared to back it up with other, semi-aggressive mods/body kit. If you want the nice, clean, modern luxury look, go with the right. The rights might be more appropriate for a sedan.

P.S. The lights on the left would really have the reverse-clear on the top 180 degrees for your '95/'96, right?

I love the Custom Enterprise diamond/euro red/clear tails so much that I did a '99 --> '95 trunk conversion just so I could use them.

I do agree with you guys that the CF ones look a little off but I was wondering if It would look good painted and thanks to KyleFort32 he made that happen. I have to say I think that looks a lot better then the CF but deadmax96 has a good point that the paint job might not match and if it doesn't it isn't worth getting the CF ones. The Red/clear I love too they were actually my first pic before I new there were paint able covers for the CF ones. I guess I should test out how well I could paint some stuff with the paint I ordered first. Thank you ptatohed for showing me your car as well I do love that look... and body kit. Ohh and I might as well say this hear I have read up on all your mods and how too's and I will be doing some of the interior ones of course instead of chrome I will paint most of it blue to match my car. In the end I have a feeling I am going to end up with the Red/clears in fear of messing up the paint job cuz I don't want fake CF in my tails unless I had a CF trunk... Question now that I thought of a CF trunk I have only seen the 97-99 have a CF trunk so if I wanted to put a 97-99 trunk on my 96 is it just bolt on or do I have to do more?

honestly? on that color blue the red/clears would just make the car sing. the skyline mod altezzas would make the show aspect really stand out. either way youre good to go in my book. and this is comming from someone who cant stand the 95-96 maxima styling.

have you thought about the dtm mod for smoked tails? i think that would look real nice. if not then i think both the red/clears and the cf tails (if painted to perfectly match body color) would look good. good luck

alright I finally decided I bought the red/clears when I get them I will post pics. Thanks everyone for the input. I just couldn't risk buying the CF ones and mess up the paint job. I know these will look great.

I think something black/smoked would look good, considering the lighting oin the front of the car. It would be nice if you could to the DTM to a set of 97 red/clears...but since that would require a new trunk lid...maybe get the cf one painted to match the car? This one's a toss up. I like the re/clears better, but in your case I think the clear is too shiny for the rest of the car.

EDIT:you could use some VHT niteshades to "tint" the clear of the 96 red/clears....maybe? That's what I'd do.

KJS, shame on you for the run-on sentence. . Can you still buy the CE red/clears? Where did you get them?

Here's a set. There are almost more of these than the 97+ red/clears. I'm sure they're not the actual CE set, but they look similar to me.

Oh wow, I had no idea. Yeah, they do look just like my CE's. Darn it! I thought that the only euro red/clears out there was the batch that went out just before CE went under (before coming back under new ownership). And I don't see them on CE's website now so I thought these were rare. Bummer. And they are only $100 on ebay - that was CEs "intro price" when they first debuted.

You can get the red/clears for around $150 to $250 on many web sites or take your chances like I did with ebay. It only cost $121 shipped for them of course they are everywhere cuz 95 -96.
