check engine light ?
i have a 1996 maxima with the check enginge light on and i have to get the inspection stiker and with the light on it wont pass the inspection so can i bee able to reset the check engine light and take it to the inspection and pass the inspection or it will still show in the computer when they are making the inspection, the reason of this is cause i dont have money to fix the check engine light and i need the inspection sticker so is there a way to have the check engine light off .

Read the stickies. There is a little computer underneath the drivers side by the pedals u can read the code and reset it. If you reset it and it doesn't come back by the time u make it to the inspection station you are good, otherwise, gotta get it fixed

No your not gonna pass inspection just by resetting the CEL. The light will show back up within 50 miles. Once the light is reset you have to drive like 200-300 miles for the car to run through its cycle. If you rush to the inspection place the car will just give a not ready signal.
Check the codes and tell us what the codes are and we can go from there.

I think you will pass even though many of your sensors will say "not ready" at least that is how it is in Utah.
I had a friend with a 96 max and had bored out his cat so he had a CEL because of that and every year he would disconnect his battery the night before he was going to get it tested and never had any problems.
It's worth a try, if you fail you can get your problems fixed. Most places give you 15 days to fix the problems and will re-test you for free

You bumped a 3YO thread in the wrong forum for a question that makes no sense at all.
1. this is 4th gen
2. codes dont "work", they "are".
3. The diag procedure and codes are probably not the same.
Being a newbie is not a good enough excuse for this much fail.
to redeam yourself, look here.
