PCV valve mishap

Was putting in an aftermarket PCV and lost grommet into engine. To make matters worse try to shove pcv back in and crumbled little plastic pieces apart inside also. I don't have a garage or know how to take apart. How can I get all little plastic pieces and grommet. Vacuum it out I am lost???

Yup simple as that, and now you can change that most likely leaky valve cover gasket.

You're going to have to remove the upper intake first though. Not extremely hard, just plan out a few hours. Wouldn't hurt to have a new TB, IACV, and EGR tube gasket to make the process easier. Those are about $5 for all three at the dealer. If you have a lot of miles, you should replace the upper intake gasket too, that one is about $10-$20 and you can get hose from Advanced or Autozone if you wanna save a buck or two. If I remember, everything is a 12mm or 10mm, so just have those in deep and shallow sockets, and a few varied extensions. You'll be fine. If you leave that crap in there and run the engine, you will be in a heap of trouble.

A small maintance problem has turned into gasket replacement and all the rest. I almost had plastic piece and it pushed more inside. Problem is car is in open air parking and I can not do all this dismantling there. I am not in a good place going to have to tow. Thanks for advice. Also just thought of a thin hanger can scoop up plastic and then grommet.

If you try to get all the pieces like that, make sure by putting them back together to 'rebuild' broken bits. otherwise bits will get beat up and eventually end up in oil passages, etc. Good Luck with it, just take your time.
If you have a small dental miror it may help get light into valve area; I know it's a small hole for PCV -if the mirror's a cheap one, break it so it'll fit into cover - Don't drop it in though !

that's funny...to be accurrate there is a OEM grommet in there and solid aftermarket bottom pcv that broke in there. So if possibly with wire somehow scoop the 2 pieces out I should be safe. I ordered grommet and pcv from dealer $20 for both should have gone that route from the beginning.

Man I had the similar thing happen to me today when I changed my pcv valve. When i took the old one out the rubber grormmet cracked a little and then when i to the pcv valve part of the rubber came with the valve and th rest fell in the crankcase. I read this post last night and I'm thinking ohh man no me too, great this is gonna be crazy. Well after hour of frustration and trying everything known to man I was able to move the rubber to the hole with a pick and then got pliers and took it out. Man that was crazy!, but I'm glad i got it out. Hats goes off to the fellow who had the similar thing happen to him.
