HID in Fogs: Require Modifications to the Assemblies??

I am pretty sure I have seen this addressed on the forum.. but in my own defense, I did a search and came up dry. I did however get linked to some Google search thingy that showed HIDs on sale..

I noticed that h3 HID bulbs are considerably longer than halogen h3 bulbs.. do I have to gut the fog assemblies in order to fit the HID capsules in correctly? I am ready to order them up and just want to know what I'll be up against..

No they are fine, I just installed H3 HID bulbs in my fog lights (check sig) they fit just fine.

i think he was asking if the regular hid, h3 fit there seems to be some confussion between forums members on what works and what does not. the fist three post clearly say they do, while the last say they dont.... which is it...??

Otherwise, the bubble shields within the fog light housing will get in the way, making regular H3 bulbs impossible to fit without modification.

Either use mini h3 bulbs... OR .... do what i did..

I bent the metal piece inside the fogs a little to the side... that thing doesnt do jack , so just bend it with a SCREW DRIVER .. and put the bulb in...

It's that easy

it'll work, i had to do it on mine. i ordered the regular ones by mistake, and didn't feel like waiting until they could send me the minis. they're quite easy to bend but you will see a whole bunch of glare

I have H3 (not minis) HID's in my fogs. There was no fitment issues. The only problem I had was putting the cap on, the wires that ran out of the fog light thing were too thick to put on the cap. I just duct taped it in place. But as far as the bulb fitting in the metal socket that holds it down I had NO problems...

More like you bent the reflecting shield that projects the light out making the fog lights useless

Sorry to bring back this thread.. but just wondering which side the shield should be bend or it doesn't matter in order to fit the HID bulb.

Thanks

Hey guys, I just picked up and HID kit for my fogs (H3). They're like spotlights and I'm a bit weary on turning them on @ night. Can they be adjusted/pointed to my liking? It's a 95 Maxima btw. THNX

Wow this was good information. I was thinking of ordering some hids from ddm tuning but it only say h3 not h3c or h3 minis. So if I order them I would have to bend the shield also.

H3 only no shield bending. I got some 3000 kelvin bulbs full sized h3. I think that the h3c bulbs are 32 w and so expect a slightly decreased lifespan being driven @ 35. Bigger is better when it comes to heat. My previousl bulbs were h3c which died after a few months. The bulb exploded for no damn reason.
