Car wont start

My friends 99' will not start. It just cranks over but doesnt fire up. The ecu is not throwing any codes. Someone mentioned maybe the immobilizer is causing it not to start. What are some symptoms of a faulty immobilizer, or how would i know if i for 100% need to take it to get reprogrammed? I dont want to take it to nissan and have that not be the problem and pay for nothing.

Don't listen to anyone elses suggestions.

This is what you do, go crank the car and look at the Security light, if it stays lit, that means you have to TOW the car to the dealership and have them reprogram the keys.
