4th gen owners with 5th gen Stock 17s

My dad wants to put my stock SE rims on his 96 GLE. Can someone tell me what size tire he needs to get? Tire shop is quoting him prices on 215/45/17 but that does not sound right to me so I figured I would check with someone that has these on their car.

thanks. I thought the 215/45 sounded wrong. That seemed more like the size for a Honda.

+1, The 235-45 will give you a better ride and it will look better. Fittment is no problem, I run 245-45-17's.

if you have the 17x7 rims, i think 235 is pushing it in width and i wouldn't go any wider.

i'm running my brother's '03 SE 17's and they have 225/50/17 tires on them.

In the snow

If I were you, I'd check the members rides section and cardomain for A LOT more pics on different color combos too.

Just beware, squeezing a 235/45 on there might yield some mushy and unpredictable handling.

I;ve looked on cardomain , there are some really nice rides on there.

Just getting some wheel ideas for next year. Gonna slap some winter rims , saskatchewan winters are nasty.

As he probably already knows the stock size is 205/65-15 but since he has 17's he can use 225/50-17's (thats what I had on my 97 SE). I've even used 235 and 245's with no rubbing issues.
