Chiltons Manual Symbols

I finally bought a Chiltons manual yesterday and I am trying to test my MAF sensor. The car is acting up so I looked on 4-17 in the manual at figure 45. Then I see all these symbols on the left side of the pic. I have looked through the book a few times but I can't find a key to what these mean. Maybe I am just looking over it but i can't find it. I assume the thing that says connect means the sensor is connected, the key means the key is on, the engine means the engine is running, temp guage means the engine is warm. But what is that other pic that has some small thing in the top left with "HS" at the bottom right? Anyone know before I go and mess something up.

Those symbols mean ...

left side, top to bottom,
1) Leave the connectors connected.
2) HS indicates the diagram in the upper right hand corner is looking at the Harness Side.
3) Make this test with the ignition ON.
4) Make this test with the engine running.
5) Make this test with the engine at normal operating temperature.
