Ben's ECU Mod not working?
I did Ben's ECU mod today, which involves cutting the pink wire with the blue strip on the ECU harness. I cut the pink wire with blue strip, and put a switch on it, a 2 prong toggle switch, not one of the 3 prong switches which has a ground. I tested the switch prior to installation, switch works. Anyways, I tried to go past my governed speed, 116 or so, and had no luck. I tried the switch in both toggle positions and was governed at the same old 116 both times. Would the switch need to be toggled PRIOR to starting the car? I can't imagine this would be the case, but I'm rather dumbfounded by this. I was running on a closed course so traffic wasn't an issue.

Ok, when you are looking at the ECU, with the harness plugged in, did you cut the pink/blue wire on the right half of the harness?
That's the one you want.
Try taking your switch out and going for it. If you cut the correct, then the switch may be the culprit.

Holy crap where'd this come from??? I was actually about to post again about this. No, I never got it work. I cut the pink/blue wire on the right side of the harness. Like I said, I tried the switch in both positions. After trying to go past 116 mph on my "closed course" I got mad and ripped the wire off one side of the switch. So now basically its as if I just cut the wire and the 2 ends are sitting there, not in contact. I don't imagine you'd have to unhook your battery or anything to get this to work, though I haven't tried that.
My check engine light is on all the time because of a broken wire on an O2 sensor. I noticed after I did this, like the following day, that I had a new code which I had never gotten before. It was something to do with the fuel evap canister. Actually I'll go check the codes right now, and double check to make sure I cut the correct wire, though I'm sure I did cut the correct one. Back in a few.

Just checked it, I'm sure I cut the correct wire. Its a thin pink wire, with a blue stripe going down either side, about 1" from the right side of the harness, when looking at it while connected to the ECU. Like this:
[------------------------------]
[------------------------------]
[-----------------------X------]
[------------------------------]
The wire is where the X is approximately.
I just checked my codes too, and the only code I was pulling was 0402, Fuel Tank Temperature Sensor. WTF? I had to cut the wires to one of my 02 sensors to install my y-pipe, why the heck isnt the O2 sensor code showing? The O2 sensor was already bad, so it didn't matter if I cut it or not, it has to be replaced anyhow.
Also, I noticed that 0402 is not listed in the explanations of the codes. 0402 shows up on the vbmaxima page, but there's no description of it in the stickies above. It's kind of self explanatory from the name, but still I wonder what the heck has caused this. I remember getting this code too. The day after I cut the wire, I got the EVAP CVCV code once, then I reset and it went away, then I got the Fuel Tank Temp Sensor, along with the O2 sensor code. Now I get only the Fuel tank temp sensor code. I have no code regarding the speed sensor which is what I INTENDED TO DISABLE IN THE FIRST PLACE. Even though the supposedly correct wire has been DISCONNECTED FOR 3 MONTHS.
I'm out of ideas. Anyone?

maybe thats why your car runs fast times the car thinks its always in cold mode
anyway .. i did the same thing too..
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....=pink+and+blue
i cut the wrong wire.. then i tested it.. went back.. connected that wire and cut the other pink and blue wire.. check that thread

No automatic Maximas have speed limiters. Only certain 5 speed GXEs which came without the C&C package, like me and Sprint and SX7R.
So what gives. I cut the wire that is on the side Ben described and it turns out not to be the correct wire? What side was the wire you cut that WAS NOT on the correct side, the right or left? And where was the wire that DID work. Make a cool little diagram like I did

I forgot... but its the only other pink/blue wire you can't miss it..
oh and all GXE's 5spd and Auto's had limiters..
unless
they were C&C/S&C package ... usually if you have a GXE with a remote.. you don't have a limiter..

I have an Automatic GXE with the S&C package AND A LIMITER.
I have a remote, floor mats, variable intermittent wipers, power drivers seat...and a limiter.

i'm automatic with S&C package. but i simply followed ben's instruction, but the wire, no more limiter.
