Legroom: relocating driver's seat?

Has anyone relocated their driver's seat to give a little more legroom?
I'm a tall guy (6'3", shorter torso) and have difficulty getting comfortable in my Max. I looked at re-mounting my driver's seat farther back but found some difficulty.
The main trouble is how the front of the seat attaches to the floorboard. There are two angled brackets that attach the each seat rail to the floorboard. Each bracket bolts to the ridged part of the floorboard and is then attached (rivets, bolts, ???) to the seat rail. These brackets are what prevent simply unbolting and relocating the driver's seat farther back.
The one solution I see is fabricating some longer brackets that would allow the seat to be mounted farther back. The rear seat mounts could simply be relocated as necessary. Has anyone done this? Or has someone relocated their driver's seat using a different method?
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Although this car is roomier than my last one, more legroom would be an added bonus. I will update (if necessary) on my progress.

i am 6'4 and i dont really have any problems at all with comfort, it may be the leather or just how i sit, but as long as the seat is all the way back and half way tilted down i am quite comfortable.. it sucks when you have 4 people in the car and you have to move the seat..

Could be worse for me...
I have trouble and I'm only 6'3", I can't imaging adding another 6" to the equation! My inseam is about 34-35" so I have more leg than torso. All four pedals seem to close to me (dead, clutch, brake & gas.) The clutch and brake are tolerable, but the dead and gas pedals are uncomfortably close.
Like I previously mentioned, I'm going to see if some local fabricating shop can create a couple of new angled brackets that would allow for moving the seat farther back. I have to find them a sample to work from since I won't tear my car apart first. I'm only looking for 2-3" more inches total, it doesn't seem impossible.
If I have luck with this, I'll post again.

you have to think about the fact that if you have leather seats or electronically controlled seats that harnesses dont have much room to move.. and i dont know how the seatbelt works then???? but sounds good..
oh and try and drive a new BMW, any 5spd new BMW, NO FOOT ROOM!!! i pressed the damn brake and gas way tooooo many times for my own good, it sucked.. lovely cars tho.

you have to think about the fact that if you have leather seats or electronically controlled seats that harnesses dont have much room to move.. and i dont know how the seatbelt works then???? but sounds good..

actually I like how far apart the pedals are, I put a pedal cover set on them and that put them closer together, but I decided to take the clutch pedal off after driving around for awhile. But My inseam is however long I can get, mostly 36-38", it's a b1tch to find pants.

Size 15 here.. I am always cramming into 14's cuz they never have 15's in stores.. half my shoes dont fit.. haha, but www.eastbay.com is where i order most of my shoes..
