Just hit 50,00 miles so going to do the 60K schedule. Did the oil/plugs/air/pcv/inspected hoses.ect. did the transmission and coolant at 35,000 figure still have some time on it. Now fuel filter many posts said leave it alone but I feel like 8 years should be changed. If i decide I have all the informtion on fuel filter . Is there a trick to getting the filter off?
have a small screw driver but cannot get to the screws. thanks for any help.

The filter will pop out of the bracket, so just tug on it. Do your best to clear things out of the way, I personally removed the entire air intake track and misc hoses that were everywhere. It'll make your life easier.

The ABS will get in the way, no way around that.

Make sure to depressurize your fuel line by removing the fuel pump fuse in the cabin and doing a couple starts till it won't stay on.

You could even depressurize it then let it sit overnight and do it in the morning to guarantee you'll be practically fuel free.

You can replace the filter with a 300zx filter, but it will simply last longer, its also larger. I went with an OEM replacement, its smaller and they last long enough. when removing the rubber hoses twisting and pulling helps, and remember there are little nubs you have to get over. Um, always check for leaks when your done. Thats about all you need to know, good luck.

besides all of that... it helps to take the gas cap off too to further help depressurize the system... this sounds like an easy enough job but it takes alot to get the old filter off.... after about 45mins of struggling with screw drivers, twisting and pulling i actually ended up getting frustrated and used two vice grips and attacting them to either side of the filter... then just pulled. finally got the hoses off. there are many threads about the struggles ppl have with removing the fuel filter so good luck

Take a long needle-nose or pliers and crush the filter ends, squeezing over the hose.

Oh and be mindful of your hands, mine got cut up pretty good from the abs lines and the metal brackets hanging around there

Yep pull it out of the metal clamps by pulling away from the firewall. Do the top on first then disconnect the hose and you should be able to twist the filter around to gain access to the lower hose. Stubby screwdriver. I put the 300z filter in. Some stuff I found............

Fuel Filter: The filter is located against the fire wall near the brake fluid. There is no real easy way to remove the filter. It has a hose clamp at the top and bottom of the filter. The hose clamps are tightened with phillips head screws. The problem is Nissan did not leave alot of room to get a screwdriver in there inorder to remove the filter. If you want to attempt to change the filter here are a few tips. Leave the car running. You will need to remove the fuel pump fuse. The fuse panel is under the steering wheel on the left. Locate the fuel pump fuse and remove it. In about 5-10 seconds the car will stall. Try to start the car at least one more time. This releases the pressure in the fuel line. Turn the car off completely. Now try and remove the top and bottom hose on the filter. When reinstalling the filter make sure that you don't install upside down. When new filter is installed put the fuse back in and start the car.

1) Fuel Filter: since you dont know if it ever has been changed, i suggest going to the dealer and buying a 1996 300Z TT fuel filter and replacing it, the interval is NOT 20K Mi, there is no interval given, so it depends on many factors - put the 300z filter on and forget about it for another 100K Mi if u still have the car by then

I changed the fuel filter last week and it took me only 30 min thanks to my z shaped screw driver and a butter knife. It may sound crazy using a butter knife; but after I removed the hose clamps, I put the knife between the end of the hose and the fuel filter to push it back a little and then pulled it off very easily. Hope this helps

Yeah great idea, caues the knife is thiker it will not Slip off the filter when u pry the hoses off and scratch ur hand
