I've been having a bit of a problem with battery post corrosion on all my cars. I'll pop the cables and take a wire brush to the terminals but it seems to come back. Is there something I'm not doing? Coating the terminals with ?????? Thanks in advance

yep, just rub some vaseline on the termanals and it should be good to go

You know, I was thinking of this but was a bit worried about conductivity. Also was thinking of a product that was a bit more "automotive" . If used, would you coat the posts and the cables after attached or coat the posts first then attach the cables? Cheers

I kept getting a greenish corrosion that kept returning no matter what I used. I tried cleaning with baking soda then coating with vaseline, dielectric grease, and regular automotive grease. Nothing would keep it away for any length of time until I bought a can of CRC Terminal Cleaner and a can of CRC Battery Terminal Protector. Not a hint of corrosion for about six months now.

yea wat he said.. just go to wal mart in the automotive section, near the car batteries there is a little red can you can buy

Bought the CRC Battery Cleaner and the CRC Terminal Protector. Used the Cleaner and it does a nice job. I'm letting everything dry tonite and then I'll use the Protector. The guy at the auto store said that the Protector comes out red and sticky....says I won't have to worry bout corrosion again

My dad swears to those terminal rings made of felt. He used those and applied generic terminal anti-corrosion gel on the terminals and connectors when he bought his car in 1995. No corrosion whatsoever for 250,000 miles.

^ yeah autozone or the like makes some kind of terminal covers (they may be felt) i'd try those. Supposed to work good.

Ditch the lead-acid battery and go with a gell cell or dry battery. One of the reasons I orignally switched to an Optima battery.

I usually clean, apply dielectric grease on the inside of the terminal end and on the terminal, then install, and apply a battery terminal protector. Never had this problem on any of my cars, not a bad idea to reapply the protector/ clean and reapply every oil change.
