What kind of boot are you using? Also would you reccomend cutting the shifter while it is still on the car and just retap it then? Seems like it would be a whole lot easier...

No, it would be near impossible to grind the rod with it in the car. Plus it would be a huge mess.

What if you just used a hack saw or metal saw and had someone hold a shopvac next to it as you cut away. I can't imagine that tapping the rod would be that difficult while it is still on the car. BTW...where did you get the die? And what kind of boot you using?

Hahaha thanks for the compliment But yeah I was just trying to avoid the hassle of taking out and putting in the shifter.

I think you missed the part of grinding, what would you use to grind the rod while it is in the car? I used a bench grinder to grind mine down.

wood Trim - Manual Shift

Where did you find the wood trim to work with the manual shifter? Is that stock from the automatic, or is the trim made for a manual shift? I have been looking forever to find wood trim to work with my manual shifter and was not sure if I can use one from an automatic or not.

Is that shifter wood trim from an automatic, or is it made for a manual tranny? I have a manual and am wondering if the wood trim from an automatic would work?

The I30 has wood trim that fits. You cannot use an AT trim panel on an MT.

Well, obviously you can FIT the trim in there...it just doesn't look right.

Sorry, I like to have my mods look "finished" after I install them. I didn't know that we were counting 1/2-@$$ installs as things that "fit."

Okay they are 2 different pieces specific to the type of transmission but it still fits and you can still use it either way.
Yeah its a little odd and "1/2 done" I'm on a budget. I wasn't here to say it looks better, just that it fits. Doesn't interfere with the shifter or anything.

You can still add a redline boot to the auto bezel. There are some how-tos on here somewhere, but good luck finding them.

Haha no thanks. I don't like the skinny-ness of the opening. There was one website that had the piece and boot for 20 something bucks.
I did notice all the links are crazy though in the stickies.
